Draw order commend?

I can't get draw order to work in model space. I draw a square with the square command and then hatch a solid color into it but I can't send the hatch to the back and make the square come to the front. I can't find the draw order commend anywhere. What can I do to resolve this. Do I need to download another version??? I am a teacher and I get a free version. I used to have 2013 and it worked perfect. Help. I only work in model space.

Draw order is obsolete. Try display order.

Start command _DRAWORDER (followed by <ENTER> to start it) and then press <F1>

In the current help you'll find the "Find" button/link which searches for you for the command button in the menu ...

Are you teaching AutoCAD 2013 nowadays?

I'm using 2019 so all this may not work in 2013.

in the hatch and gradient dialogue window there is a draw order button. send behind boundary appears to be the default.

select the hatch and right click, draw order is in that menu.

can't you get 2019 education version?

In 2019 you can select Draw Order from the right-click menu when you have an item selected or from the Ribbon, Modify, Draw Order icon. To send the hatches to the back select the Hatches to Back command or type HATCHTOBACK at the command line.

If the hatch is associative and the PICKSTYLE system variable is set to 2 or 3 AutoCAD treats the boundary and the hatch as a single object. Change the PICKSTYLE system variable to 0 or 1 so that it doesn't select the boundary when the hatch is selected. PICKSTYLE options:

0  No group selection or associative hatch selection
1  Group selection
2  Associative hatch selection
3  Group selection and associative hatch selection

Make sure you have the latest patched AutoCAD 2019.1.2

The first released version draworder did not work properly. It actually changed the order but did not always display it. Closing and reopening the drawing usually displayed it correctly.

HATCHTOBACK command will work. FYI there is a TEXTTOFRONT command should that need arise at some point.
