How much time and money do you want to spend? There is no quick easy push-a-button fix here, you or someone else is going to have to have the correct hardware and software to scan, import, verify, fix and edit those files into usefulness.

It would be cheaper to find a 3rd party cad conversion company to do it for you, most charge about $50-$100 per sheet with two revisions in bout a week and it will be the best deal you can ever find. Note that since this is the year 2019 and reality looms over any political fantasy, your scans are going overseas to be editing for that little money and tat fast a turnaround.

Can anyone help? I have 17 A0 size Paper drawings (Site plans) with a number of services on them IE Gas, Electric, LV,HV and telecoms. I would like to somehow scan these files and use AutoCAD (2018) to work with them. I have read you can scan to a TIFF file and use CAD to edit, im somewhat confused with this. The other way is raster to vector. Can anyone put some light on this please?

Hey,

The most viable option would be after scanning, to insert the file as an xref, the trace over the image.

I have done this several times.

I have used Raster Design as @Anonymous mentioned as well as traced them.

I would also consider @pendean suggestion as well. Some times you can pick up some interns from a local tech school cheaply as well.

In My experience, one of the big things to look out for is any stretching/skewing from scanning. If you are (or will in the future) pull any dimension from these drawings i would avoid just plain tracing/converting and look more into recreating the drawing per the listed dimensioning. As great as hand drawings are, the are frequently off (compared to the accuracy available in CAD) and even more so when they have been pushed through a scanner and convert to PDF.
