How to draw in millimeters?

Cant figure out how to make my lines draw in millimeters. I am using Autocad Electrical 2018. I have already tried various options in the drawing utilities and using the "UNITS" command. Basically i want the functionality where i can tab and type in a number and it automatically makes it that length. When i do that now, that length is in inches and i don't want to draw in inches to convert to mm. How do i do this?

This is not what i want. That only converts existing objects that have already been drawn. I want to draw objects from scratch in millimeters.

Example
Present Setup :
I want to draw a line 560mm long. In order to do so, i convert mm to inches to get 22.0472inches. I draw a 22.0472 inch line (when i use the line tool, i enter the exact amount in the box). I then dimension the line so the end user knows how long it is. The issue is when i dimension it, it shows 559.9989mm.

What i want to do:

I want to use the line tool and enter in 560, to get an exact 560 mm line.

I already did it. What i am saying is i want to enter the value 560 and it be in millimeters. My only other option is just to set the scaling back to 1.00 in the dimensions, and have mm as the suffix. It is a cheat method but cant think of any other way.

It's likely that your drawing template is set up as imperial units. Ask your colleagues if they have a metric template that you can use.

i always like to know how to setup something from scratch no matter how painful it is. I get burned frequently not knowing how things work and getting in the habit of copying and pasting templates, drawings, etc.

Even in plain AutoCAD, you always start from a template drawing when you create a new drawing even if it's just from "acad.dwt" (imperial template) or "acadiso.dwt" (metric template).

While it's good to know how to set things up from scratch, for consistency it's best to use company templates if they are available as they should have other company standards in them eg layers, dim styles, title block etc.

I know that some of the vertical products use units and templates differently to plain autocad so you might be better heading over to the AutoCAD Electrical forum for specific help on setting up files for that product as I don't want to lead you astray with incorrect information.
