Trying to follow what you are needing. My best guess is that you want a viewport in a layout showing all or part of something in model space. Go to the layout tab, use the MVIEW command to create a viewport. This will create a viewport that will show everything in model space. Double click anywhere inside the viewport boundary and you will be in model space working through the viewport. Zoom in to show the approximate object(s) you want to see, then adjust the viewport scale. There are several ways to do that. One way is to locate the scale tool at the bottom of the screen and pick on the drop down arrow. You will be presented with a list of scales, pick the one you want, then to the right of that is a little lock symbol, pick on that and the viewport will be locked so the scale can't change. Finally double click outside the viewport to exit working through the viewport and back into paperspace.

I tried to follow the instructions in youtube: Switch to layout and click 2x in the middle of the sheet. = No reaction.

I tried to insert view via base. A menu show up. But only Inventor files are selectable. And no way to switch to dwg.

Next problem: If I started a new layout, the model view occurred immediately. But cannot switch of the grid in the paper.

In the last years I worked with Inventor only. Before 10 years with AutoCAD 2D and had never problems. It is a disaster for me because next time I have to work with AutoCAD and nothing, nothing works.

"But only Inventor files are selectable"

Please read the help documentation to learn how and when a command work.

Start the command and press [F1].

There you will read that this happen if no valid objects detected in your modelspace.

Please create a simple BOX in your modelspace to have a valid object and start the command again.. stil asking for inventor files?

If not, think about what's problem now - it is the wrong command for your content or you have the wrong content for the right command.

I am right?
