Hi,

1. Acad is set up to map the romans ttf to use the romans shx instead

and would not change this.

2. Offtopic: I would never user a predefined object for my stuff (here: a style with name Standard), but this is your choice.

3. Why is a ttf better for data extraction?

I like ttf too, but for data extraction I don't know why.

True Type Font

So, I set my drawings to "STANDARD" style and under the font I prefer to use the "romans.shx". Is this True Type Font? I want to use TTF for all of my drawings from here on out for easier data extraction methods. If "romans.shx" is NOT TTF then what can I use that is very similar in font style?

No, that's not a TrueType font. The symbol to the left in the font list shows you what type of font file each one is:

The double-capital-T ones [yellow] are TrueType. Note that [for me, at least] there are some .ttf fonts whose names start with RomanS -- maybe one of those will do what you want.

Multiline Text does not work with the old shx shape files so it is set up as "romans.ttf" it will use "romans.shx" instead. For TrueType fonts that don't have symbols included in romans.shx another TrueType font is used for that character. Unlike letters characters representing lines like underscore display and print according to lineweight.

So if your "STANDARD" Text Style is set to use the "romans.shx" the old standard TEXT still uses "romans.shx" but MTEXT must use "romans.ttf as it isn't capable of working with shx files.

I don't know where you're getting that idea, but it certainly is not true for me. MTEXT uses .shx fonts just fine. [Acad2020 where I am now]

You're right, it's been 25 years since I've used a .shx font and my memory's getting hazy. Retired over a year now and unable verify anything before I post. Gotta be more careful now.
