Some keyboard shortcuts / accelerator keys not working, some are...

I'm sure this is something really easy for someone out there. I've set up a number of keyboard shortcuts (what used to be called accelerator keys) for particular osnaps. Most of them are working normally, 'SHIFT+E' brings up 'Endpoint' mid-command, 'SHIFT+C' brings up 'Center', etc... The two that aren't working are 'SHIFT+X' for 'Perpendicular' and 'SHIFT+A' for 'Nearest'. However, if no command is active, if I type '****+A', the command line shows "Command: _NEAR Unknown command "NEAR". Press F1 for help." so someplace it's being recognized. Also, when in the middle of a command, if I hit 'SHIFT+A' or 'SHIFT+X' all I get is a capital A or X, but then if I hit 'SHIFT+E' for instance, now it just gives me a capital E, instead of 'Endpoint'. But if I avoid 'SHIFT+A' or 'SHIFT+X', then 'SHIFT+E' and the others work fine.

I've gone through the CUI window under keyboard shortcuts and temporary overrides and can't find anything else with 'SHIFT+A' or 'SHIFT+X', but is there someplace else to look? It should be noted, I just migrated from Autocad 2019 to Autocad 2020 (and I did migrate my old settings). Also my personalized keyboard shortcuts (accelerator keys) are stored in a custom cuix file I created years ago, not in the main Autocad cuix file.

I had a similar problem when I migrated to 2019, but the fix last time isn't working this time (so maybe my old fix wasn't really a fix). If someone knows a better way to do all of this, I'd love to hear it.

_NEA is correct for the nearest osnap, _NEAR means nothing in AutoCAD: looks like this is CUIx of yours has been edited and needs to be fixed.

Reset 2020 and see if the problems go away: then code-check your custom CUIx before loading and using it (you can do that in 2019 if you still have it).

@pendean Resetting autocad eliminates the keyboard shortcuts completely, along with every other tweak to autocad I've made. Is there a way to only eliminate only the keyboard shortcuts? I'm not talking about the command aliases in the PGP file, but what used to be called accelerator keys.

It is an all or nothing option, the app is called RESET TO DEFAULT, and the pop-up gives you a lot of information about what is about to happen and an opportunity to back it all up, did you miss it by chance

@pendean No thank goodness, I backed up everything.

I've reset autocad, and then migrated my old settings back in, except for the CUI.

At the command line, 'SHIFT+E' brings up 'endpoint' now, but while in the middle of a command, it doesn't work. Two questions:

1. What could be adding the 'SHIFT+E', etc. commands after resetting the settings?

2. In your opinion, what's the best way to add in the accelerators?

We've had this discussion before back in January... . You migrated from LT2013 back then andwith the same questions.

1. SHIFT+E works fine here in a command, its a sticky key, you have to hold the combo keys together while using it, its not a replacement for typing END<enter>. Is that how you are using it?

2. depends on what you are calling "accelerators": open CUI command and use a name from there to what you want to change so we are all on the same page. @pendean I know I just went through this recently, which is why in my original post, I said that I hadn't truly fixed it, but somehow got it working again.

What I'm trying to do is understand how best to go about setting these things up, so I don't have issues in the future.

Now that I've migrated all of my old settings except for anything in the CUI, what could be causing this to be an issue? I know how to use mid-command accelerator keys. This is the result of when (mid command) I hit 'SHIFT+E':

Previously, I was able to get things working the way I wanted by moving the keyboard shortcuts I had imported down lower in the list. But now, I haven't intentionally imported my shortcuts, so I'm curious where they might have come in from.

@Oakhillarchitects , I fixed the problem!

At least on my end. I was literally having the same problem.

What I did:

1) CUI on command line

2) Under Customizations in All Files window, select "Main Customization File" rather than "All Customization Files"

3)Now, look at your keyboard shortcuts in the Shortcuts Window, and delete/alter the entries which conflict with those you've set for your shortcuts. I.e. I set SHIFT+P to Snap, Perpendicular. It was set to something else I don't really use.

4) Now, your keyboard shortcuts should work during a command!

Note that I had dragged over these shortcut keys from a Partial Customization File that I haven't unloaded, so maybe that's why step #2 was crucial for me. Perhaps your case is different, but I hope my solution works for you!
