Hi,

AutoCAD 2020 uses the same DWG format as 2018 and 2019 does. So no conversion is needed if someone with AutoCAD 2018 wants to open a drawing created with AutoCAD 2020.

Also AutoCAD can save back down to DXF12, however, saving back means AutoCAD needs to convert objects to make them readable in such old releases of AutoCAD, it works, yes, most of the time, but not all objects work well after that.

Does that answer your question?

Hi,

>> Are 2020 DWG's compatible with 2017 users?

No, as you can see in my previous post the DWG format AutoCAD 2020 is using is the same for AutoCAD 2018 and 2019.

AutoCAD 2017 is using the DWG 2013 format (valid for AutoCAD 2013 to 2017).

I recommend to always use the same version of AutoCAD for those partners working together.

You can use command -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD to create a copy of your drawing saved in an older format, but the primary working file should always be saved in the format AutoCAD has as default ootb.

Not recommended: you can use command _SAVEAS and specify an older format ... or you can use _OPTIONS and change the default save format to an older format. But that can create issues with the stability of your dwg-files and the performance for saving and loading your drawings decreases.
