Hello, I have an issue when I import an Xref into my drawing and if it has dashed lines they show up really big dashes so I always have to change the linetype scale on the Xref so they show up normal on my drawing. Just wondering what is causing that. Also if I start a drawing on ARCH D 24.00 X 36.00 but then have to change it to ARCH E1 30.00 x 42.00 then have to rescale all of the linetype to just wondering if that's normal?

There are a lot of variables in this question. Can you be more specific and post some screen shots?

There is a lot going on in this question so it could be difficult to give you the answers you seek. I suggest you post some screen shots of the dashed lines to help us better understand what might be happening.

On that note, you typically shouldn't have to adjust the line type scale. In your source/base file (where the linework is) set the LTSCALE variable to 1 and make sure all of your line objects have their ltscale settings set to 1. Xref that file into your drawing file where the LTSCALE setting should also be set to 1. Make sure PSLTSCALE is also set to 1. this will make sure your dashes scale to the viewport scale. If PSLTSCALE is set to 0 it will scale the linetypes to the scale of the file they are created in. So they could get smaller or larger.

If you need larger/smaller dashes use a different linetype like HIDDEN, or use the DASHED2 or DASHEDX2 lientypes. Tweaking the LTSCALE on the objects should be a last resort.

1. The source code for that linetype dictates sizing: metric vs imperial and all that, or feet vs. inches or mm vs meters. Do more digging on your end to find out what that XREF units where created to be vs your topmost file.

2. D vs E sheets: you must be plotting from modelspace old-school style like it was the year 1989 perhaps? Hard to tell, try to share screenshots or actual DWG files etc.

TIA
