Z elevation up? @0,0,4 is how, you just add the Z to the @x,y,z sequence.

Or flat 2D MOVE command like it always works https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/how-can-i-move-an-object-a-specific-distance-from-another-line/m-p/6732276#M153850 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxvYf0Ak1a4

Or turn ortho on, point the direction and type the distance. Your apparent unfamiliarity with this operation suggests that you would greatly benefit from reading a basic AutoCAD textbook or taking a begining AutoCAD class.

If you've already tried the suggested techniques, then the problem may be that the toilet is anchored to another object and that the move command is ignored.

Are you viewing your model from the Top view direction (plan)?

If so, by "up" do you mean parallel to the Y-coordinate axis (up on the screen ↑)?

Is the toilet an AutoCAD Architecture Multi-View Block [MVB]?

Is the DYNMODE System Variable set to 2 or 3? (Dimension Input is enabled.)

If so, are you trying to move it by selecting the MVB and then selecting the grip and moving the cursor "up" on the screen?

Notice that there are two dimensions shown, but, initially, the one parallel to the X-axis is active. Any value you type, like 4, will result in the MVB moving that distance, horizontally, even if your cursor is mostly vertical relative to the move grip.

Now press the TAB key. That will change the active dimension to the vertical one.

Now you can type in the distance you want the MVB to move vertically on the screen, and it will do so.

That works great for a circle which I know I didn't mention a square but ortho mode on and clicking on it and typing four inches doesn't work for a line, square or an ellipse.

I'm taking a vocational class in AutoCAD so it doesn't exactly cover every angle on how to use everything as no class will at any level in my opinion and experiences with schools. Though I could be wrong.

we are drawing or drew a cabin as an exercise with other exercises relevant to using AutoCAD and a blueprint.

Vertical.

Is the toilet an AutoCAD Architecture Multi-View Block [MVB]?

@Anonymous wrote:

Ortho mode on, select grip and type four inches worked on the toilet circle but not on ellipse, line or square.

Grip editing is not the only way to move an object. The MOVE command works on any of the object types you listed, and will not be affected by the DYNMODE setting. If you are moving more than one object, it also lets you select them all and move them all at the same time, without fussing with activating the right grip(s) on each object.

That said, grip editing on Circles and Lines should work just fine, if you select the center grip (Circle) or midpoint grip (Line) - and the DYNMODE setting will be irrelevant for these, as well.

What is the setting of PELLIPSE in your drawing file? If you set it to 0, you will create Ellipse objects, which have a center grip like Circles, and can be moved using that center grip as well. If PELLIPSE is set to 1, then the Ellipse command will create an approximation of an ellipse with a 2D Polyline. See discussion that follows regarding Polylines.

Squares, rectangles and PELLIPSE=1 "Elipses", along with any other Polylines, will not have a single grip by which you can move the entire Polyline. For straight-line segments, you either make the grip at the end of every segment hot or the grip at the midpoint of every segment hot (tedious, at best). For arc segments, you will need to make both the endpoint grips and the midpoint grip hot (really tedious). You will be much better off just using the MOVE command.

OP if I want to move a rectangle, I might turn it into a group (of one), then move it according to its grip, then ungroup it. This is how I center a rectangle on a circle for example, since the grip is in the center of the rectangle when it's a group.
