If you just want to be able to modify a rectangle (or any shape) by stretching its sides you can use regular associative dimensions. If you do not want to see the dimensions lines but just the text you can turn off the properties that control their display. In the following if you use the stretch command to change the rectangle the dimension values will update but their location will also change in which case you would need to reposition the dim text. could be used to include the "x" between the horizontal and vertical value.

Hi everyone i am an intermediate in Autocad, May be planning to become an expert. i know there is "Area" in field command in which area changes when the source object is changed. Similarily is there any command or LISP for the Dimensions, atleast for the quadrilaterals!? i need the dimensions to get updated when the rectangle is changed.

Hi,

>> i need the dimensions to get updated when the rectangle is changed.

Not sure if I understand the question correct ... if you have placed dimension objects and you have activated DIMASSOC the dimensions will update themselves if you change the contour of the polyline.

I have added a screenshot for example. it is 10 X 20. Say if i am stretching it 10 more to make it square. i need dimensions to get automatically updated to 20 x 20

Hi,

does the attached drawing help? (whereas it is not important if parametric or dimensions are used).
