polyline display width problem

I have a layer where the line width is set to 2 mm.

Lines display properly and are much wide than a single pixel.

However, polylines on this layer display as just a single pixel wide.

I have also tried changing the line width of individual polylines to 2mm. That also does not make them wider in the display.

The only way I can succeed in widening my display polylines is to temporarily explode them. Then each segment is a separate line and shows wider on the display. That is exactly what I want but I also want to maintain the polyline property as it is so useful for determining length, etc.

Research online has not solved this simple problem.

I am wondering what I am missing? Or is it just not possible to have polylines display wider than a single pixel?

Questions:

1) What AutoCAD version are you using?

2) Do you have the latest updates installed?

Enter About command, do a screenshot and share this here

Also can you share the dwg that you’re seeing this problem?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for trying to help.

I am using Autocad version S.51.0.0. I am not aware of any updates made to it. (It has not asked me to do any updates.)

I'm attaching the .dwg file. (Sorry it is so big. I tried to delete all except the one layer in question, WELL, but could not as many layers are referenced.)

Please ignore everything except the layer WELL.

Also a screenshot of the display showing the WELL line segments being thick and the polyline segments being just one pixel wide. Despite the linewidth set to 2mm for the layer.

I want to emphasize I am not talking about print line width, but display line width.

I suspect there must be some global variable set to get this behavior, but not really sure.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Kindest regards,

Ole

Before proceeding looks like you only have the original release of 2022 and none of the updates have been installed:

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-tie-the-Product-Version-or-Build-number-with-the-AutoCAD-update.html
To download and install updates follow instructions on this link:

https://www.autodesk.com/support/download-install/individuals/manage/update-your-software#:~:text=You%20can%20access%20updates%20for,updates%20from%20the%20Access%20application

Afterwards see if this makes a difference PS: Enter command GraphicsConfig, do a screenshot and share that here

I used the RECOVER command to open your sample dwg and I received a number of errors:

Next I turned On the following two layers which for some reason were off especially the current layer which should not be off otherwise anything you draw on it will not be displayed:

I also noticed that you have a global PLINEWID set as 1 1/2"

Keep in mind that any PLINE with its own width will override the current Layer's LWeight property.

So it looks like the PLINEs you have drawn on this layer all have this 1 1/2" width and not 0:

So I right mouse clicked & chose Select Similar on the cursor menu highlighting all PLINES:

Now on the Properties window next to Global width I entered 0 then the LWeight appears:
