Unknown Command - Intermittent

Hi guys,

AutoCAD 2019 - Product Version P.46.0.0 - Windows 10

Yesterday afternoon I started receiving the response l Unknown Command "L" when using 'l', but doesn't seem to happen for a the few other commands I've tried (c, o, p, m).

Theres no difference if I hit l > space (or enter) in quick succession, or press l > wait a period > space (or enter).

Caps lock has no effect.

It is not project specific, I've tried various projects that have been worked on at different times throughout the last few weeks.

When the command doesn't work, doesn't matter how long I wait, the suggest commands don't pop up, I just see 'l' sitting in the command line until I hit space/enter (then I get unknown command). If I wait a moment after typing 'l' and the suggested commands pop up, it works without fail.

It fails about 25-30% of attempts.

CUI Restore or Reset didn't help.

Already have Demand load ObjectARX apps set to Object Detect & Command Invoke

I'm stumped and I'm hoping for a solution that doesn't require a re-install.

Hello @mmatkovic,

Thank you for posting. Try reviewing the SYSVARMONITOR to see what system variables are set.

On the monitor dialog you can select the related System Variables (Updated List) to "Reset" them back to defaults.

would you check your INPUTSEARCHDELAY (System Variable) . >> Click <<

Sorry, no longer support available for AutoCAD 2019 - P.46.0.0.

Joke. But you really have to update your old ootb version.

2019.1.2 is the current 2019 version with much less bugs.

Updates often available from DesktopApp or log into your account via browser.

Inputsearchdelay is set to 300.

I'm not sure if this would change anything as I can sometimes press l, and wait 10 seconds before hitting enter and it will still pop up as unknown command.

I'm by no means an expert, id say I'm pretty **** average so I might be misunderstanding something.

Nothing that I can see that would impact it.

But turning Dynamic Input ON stops the issue from happening. When Dynamic Input is turned off the issue returns. While I prefer Dynamic Input ON, there are those who don't.

Updated to the latest available service pack and the problem still persists.

As mentioned above, I have a work around that I'm happy enough with, but it won't resolve the problem for others.

Something to check:

type "aliasedit" and hit enter at the command line (no quotes) and look to see if "L" is listed as the alias for "line" command. If it isn't, it may have inadvertently got removed (no idea how) , and you can easily add it back in. If it is already listed correctly, I am out of ideas, unless maybe you have a 3rd party add-in that alters your acad.pgp file on loading....

PS- I have both 2019 & 2020 installed, and "l" works in both, with dynamic input on or off, no difference.

Thanks, L wasn't listed in aliasedit, so after adding it there I haven't been able to replicate the unknown command. No difference whether Dynamic Input is on/off.

While my problems are gone, it's still weird that it would sometimes worked and sometimes not
