Thanks, the source object is on the grid.

I think that the problem is that if an object has dimensions (length) say 11.81 and other has dimensions say 14. When I place the object with higher dimensions (14) centered to the one with lower dimensions, then the moved object becomes off the grid.

Hi all,

I try to move an object by using a MOVE command. I move the object manually by typing in Move and then selecting the object and moving it.

However, whenever I place the object, I find that it is placed off the grid.

I have selected the options SNAP ON and GRID ON.

Both SNAP X / Y spacing and Grid X / Y spacing are set to be 0.01.

Could you please help me in this regard?

Thanks

Is the source object off the grid to begin with? If so, and the start and end points of the Move displacement are on the grid, then the new location of the object will be off the grid by the same amount that it was in its original location.

If that's the issue, Object-Snap to some logical place on the object for the start point of the Move displacement.

I do this kind of moving a lot as well. I find that if I don't pay attention something when I click the selection I want to move my osnap setting may click to a point not on the grid and thus when I move the selection it ends up off the grid. I prevent this I select the object 1st the type the move command and select the origin point some where in a clean space and then move. This way it will always snap to grid and I can still keep my osnaps running.
