Hi @KB2408, I think that I got the same result as @Anonymous (find my file attached)!

Also, take a look at this screenshot:

The Alignment option of the SWEEP command only rotates the profile to align it to the sweep curve. However, the profile will be moved anyway closer to the sweep curve--regardless of the value chosen for Alignment.

The error message that you were getting was due to the fact that the start point of the sweep path was such that it had a tangent vector actually coplanar to the profile plane, and the profile was throwing an error for this reason. I had to explode the path to get rid of the error message.

Hope that clears things up! Of course, please mark my answer as Solution if it helped you! 🙂

Hello there,

I am trying to sweep some profiles (see attached photo) around a path. When I choose to not align the profiles I get the msg "Path curve is coplanar with or tangent to the plane of the profile curve. Unable to sweep 1 selected objects"

how can I sweep these profiles and keep them in their position?

Thank you for your help!

The dwg. file is also attached

You want to align them with the path. Is this the result you are looking for?

Thank you for your reply @Anonymous

Although it seems yes, that what I'm looking for, but I can't judge 100%! Could you share the dwg. file please.

Actually I tried the following: when I selected all the profiles at once to sweep them and choose the path, it works! the issue is when I am trying to sweep each profile alone, then the created object (from this profile) will be shifted to align with the path; and when I try to choose "no" by the option "alignment" I get the msg ""Path curve is coplanar with or tangent to the plane of the profile curve. Unable to sweep 1 selected objects"

Just checking back about my post earlier today. Did it help you? If so, it would be great if you could mark it--or some other user's answer--as a Solution! 🙂

If the SWEEP command (/Align or /Twist) is not satisfactory, try using the EXTRUDE /Path command. These commands work a little differently in alignments: For EXTRUDE, the path will align to the profile, while SWEEP will align the profile to the path. Also, the profile rotation/twist works differently. For threads, I use EXTRUDE /Path.
