I have a problem with the hatch command. I want to fill the polyline with a grass patern but for some reason it shows me this (see screenshot). The grass marks from the hatch overlap with each other. Even when i adjust the scale it doesn't give me the pattern i want.

Copy the red PLine and hatch it. it works fine.

There seems to be a gap between your red and green PLines in the sharp corner on the right.

Close this gap and you have a closed parameter and the hatch will not overlap.

Or (depends on the AutoCAD version you are using) set the HPGAPTOL to a higher value.

For me, I had to explode the red PLine to get the hatch to fill.

Nothing changes if i close the polylines. The problem is the objects that make the hatch pattern (for ex. the cross) are way to large, so that the crosses overlap, making the hatch look like a grid. Scaling does not help (see screenshot). On the lift is the cross pattern with scale 1, on the right with scale 0.1.

@Anonymous wrote:

... the objects that make the hatch pattern (for ex. the cross) are way to large, so that the crosses overlap, making the hatch look like a grid. ....

That looks very much like a corruption of the pattern definition, specifically as though the dash-and-gap specifications [a positive number followed by a negative number] at the end have been removed or commented out or something, so that all lines are unbroken. Open up the acad.pat file and look at what it has as a definition for the CROSS pattern. It should look like this:

*CROSS, A series of crosses
0, 0,0, .25,.25, .125,-.375
90, .0625,-.0625, .25,.25, .125,-.375

That definition performs as expected for me.

Hi,

>> Changing the acad.pad could be an option but i have tis

>> problem for all of my patterns.

The defect of that GRASS pattern seems to be inside your ACAD.PAT (or ACADISO.PAT), not sure which one is accessed by your AutoCAD, depending on MEASUREMENT setting.

Can you please upload both, ACAD.PAT as well as ACADISO.PAT so we can see the differences to our files that work well.

>> Also is use AutoCad from a shared server. Wouldn't it be a

Yes, you should be careful with that ... but if that file has defects and you keep on working with that defect patterns, things get worse!

Hi,

then you need to ask the admin to replace the ACAD.PAT and ACADISO.PAT with the original one, someone has edited the defaults which should not happen at all.

You might create your own PAT file, but then you need to add a path to the AutoCAD support paths (so AutoCAD can find your PAT file) ... I guess you are not allowed to do that too, correct?

If found a way to get access to the acad.pad file, all the pattern-difinitions are same compared to the definitions in previous answers. Is there a way to adjust the spacing between pattern objects?

Hi,

>> If found a way to get access to the acad.pad file

Than upload the file here so we can look into it and see if the pattern "GRASS" is incorrect or ok.

>> Is there a way to adjust the spacing between pattern objects?

For a hatch you can only adjust the scaling from AutoCAD.

To edit the pattern itself you need to go through all lines in the hatch pattern definition as this is not just "space between pattern objects" (as every single line in the hatch pattern has to be defined by separately).
