hatch - using a block containing text as a boundary

selecting a boundary or internal point abd a block as a boundary (which consists of a circle with a text attribute).

Prior to 2025, you could remove just the text from the boundaries, and it would just use the circle to draw the hatch, now its selecting both items as the boundary but you have to;

Remove the block as the boundary
exit hatch
re-select the block as a boundary
then remove the text box boundary
then sometimes re-select the circle boundary again

if anyone has any ideas of a pick order or settings to get back to the old way or to avoid this issue all together would be grand.

you should report this to Autodesk so they're aware of the difference with previous version hatching vs 2025

@MaccyDee We are all end users like you in these forums, Autodesk does not look here for anything other than making sure we are not torching the place 🙂

Here is another trick you can use. WIPEOUT.

I took your block and added a Polygon Circle, then used Wipeout.

Place this in your block and use the Draworder Command and make it go behind the Text and Circle.

By doing so, when hatching you only have to select the Rectangle's line and ignore the block with the Text inside.

How to make:

Enter the command POLYGON,
When prompted to enter the number of sides, enter a value of 36 which will create a closed pline that looks just like a circle. ...
Then use of the WIPEOUT command like you normally would, and choose Polyline option, then select the pline you created.
Place this in your block and use the Draworder Command and make it go behind the Text and Circle.
Close and Save your block. Now Hatch without selecting the Circle with the text in it.

Also, you have your Grid On, Not sure if anyone uses that any more. F7 to turn it off.

Beauty of AutoCAD... so many different flavors of how to get your job done.
