Paste Text without styles

I would like copy text (style standard) from one drawing into another drawing without bringing any of the custom styles into the new drawing.

Each way I try and paste, it still copies over text styles from the original drawing and then I am unable to delete them because it says the styles are in use.

There is no built-in ability to strip formatting from text in AutoCAD. Sorry. You can only do it after the fact as you know how to do.

For a workaround, you could have Windows Notepad open and transition through there, it strips all formatting from the text.

Post a small drawing that has sample text that exhibits this behavior. Since the standard style is pre-defined within every drawing, copy/pasting content from one drawing will not change the style in the target drawing. It is likely that you are copying other text styles or more than just text. Without a drawing, everything is just a guess.

Autodesk continues to be entirely stupid about text and tables. So frustrating. It's the easiest part of the software code.

i just use a new drawing to keep the coordinates. its fast when i use qs (quick select) for filter or control-a for all.

A handy trick that works to remove formatting when copying and pasting from any program, not just AutoCAD, is to copy your text into Notepad (comes preinstalled with Windows) and then cut and paste your text from Notepad into AutoCAD or whatever program to strip the formatting.

Topic is about - when pasting, unwanted styles are copied which cannot be cleaned up.

It sounds he had a problem with (I guess) application data in the background, what copies much more data than the User selected.

And because of the link to hidden application data, you can not purge them.

Hopefully, no more work is being done to solve the problem (06-12-2019)

Repeated the first answer from 06-12-2019, both talked about (internal) formats of MText, instead of unwanted Styles.
BTW: Offtopic or not - You can also insert strings as text content without any formats directly,
this option is available by edit existing mtext,contextmenu / paste content..

Does right-click > paste special > paste without formatting not strip the text styles out of what you're pasting?

Just checking if autocad will add this (Ctrl + Shift + V) to the new updated for CAD as a shortcut. As cutting & pasting from other sources is becoming more frequent.

On Windows, while it's not universal, many apps support the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + V to paste without formatting.

That combination is already assigned as the shortcut for PASTEBLOCK.
