COMPARE TOOLS ( Trouble with cloud limit)

Hi !

I get a cloud all around the drawing, but not around the changes.

I checked and modified the COMPARERCSHAPE (System Variable) no result.

I revorered the two files and checked the units, no result.

Is it possble that the detection of too many differences comes to this result ?

No, only if the size of the cloud is set to a value bigger then the distances between the different objects.

You also might change the cloud type from "Rectangular" to "Polygonal"

Most important .. make sure that these 2 drawings have their geometry at the same location!

Thanks a lot,

But I checked all parameters you mentionned . Also units in dwgunits & insertunits in mm and Compare tolerance.

Still the same trouble with a certain amount of differences.

It works well for a few differences !

Hi,

yeah, that are too many differences and even the compare cloud size set to 1 creates just one big cloud.

All these parts are different:

And these are equal in both files (less than above the number of different objects)

Should we now go into detail?

The colors show well the differences. Is it how we go into details ?

I would first start with the hatches, because having exploded hatches in the dwg-file is simply bad.

Then it is important to view the differences and to evaluate why they exist. Is one dwg-file newer than the other one? Or were these files modified from two different persons/companies and your job is now to create a third drawing with "best of both" ... or what exactly is you job now?

I am an architecte , and Autodesk instructor.

I do training and advise in different fields of the building sector for Autocad user's in France and the Netherlands.

About this job, we will find how to see the differences (between the revision dates).

My question was really about the behavior of the compare tool.
