If you notice on the new pulldown of that new feature, it only offers you blocks in your file or recent blocks you've used, or blocks in other drawings. No offer to insert other drawings as blocks, and there is no hidden feature to do that. This new tool is taking the definition of a block quite literally.

You want to use ADCENTER or CLASSICINSERT (or drag/drop) for that ability if it is something you need all the time.

HTH

Just started moving into 2020 from 2017. The block insert pallet and the ribbon option don't seem to have an option to insert a dwg as block. The only options are to insert blocks from other drawing files.

Aside from using the classicinsert or dragging a dwg file into the window, am I missing how to insert dwgs files directly?

That's what I thought. I ended up adding an Alias for the classicinsert to the PGP file and added classic insert icon to both the ribbon and the menu pulldown. Unfortunately I couldn't use "insert" for the alias.

Here is my situation. Most of my work starts with our agency's master file. These files are complex with approx 1,000 blocks. I'd like to use my blocks and have been struggling. Have succeeded in creating separate dwg files for each of my blocks. But then what is the quickest and simple way to add these blocks to a drawing file?
