XREF cleanup tip!

I am running ACADE 2019, and sometimes import BOM files by creating linked tables. Frequently, I have engineers move or rename the source files linked to my drawing tables, without realizing the impact of doing so. Also, I have some engineers that will modify the Excel file and delete or rename tabs, corrupting the link in my drawing. I have found that the AutoCAD command "datalink" is a great tool to fix your issue. The command has been around for a while, however is often not in your commonly used command list. Type "datalink" in the command line, and a list of current data links will show as well as their status. Right click on the link you want to delete and click "yes". Be sure to click "ok" to save your choice. Task complete! I hope this helps anybody else who has run into this challenge....

Your problem is one of communications with your teams of engineers: there is no technology fix for it. ALl you are doing is chasing your tail all day long.

Its time you all talked about project impacts together: work as a team.

I saw another topic/post where someone was having a similar problem. datalink and olelinks are not commands that jump out at you and it can be hard to tell what other people are doing or have done in a dwg. It seems to happen more with older dwg's as people forget or are no longer around. Good post to bring up as a check.

It seems like your problem is due to a lack of internal coordination between you and the rest of your project team. Some internal training, and you educating them will solve some of your issues.
