topic Demo Hatch in AutoCAD Forum

I work a lot with demo drawings for a buildings HVAC components (equipment, ductwork, piping, etc.) and the way I show demolition is by a hatch pattern covering whatever is removed. Normally I outline the equipment, then use the HATCH command to fill in the outline. I am curious if there is a way to just outline an object and it create a demo hatch over whatever was just outlined. Almost like creating a linetype but the linetype is the hatch pattern of a certain width.

I'm not sure if this description will make sense, please ask if there is anything I need to clear up.

SCREENSHOTS IN ORDER

1. Existing

2. Outlined equipment/piping to be demo'ed

3. Hatch generated of outline

Nothing built in does that: if you want to customize, the LISP forum is over here for help with coding something a bit faster to implement https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-customization/ct-p/AutoCADTopic1

Until you find a coding solution, you might try the Draw option of the Hatch command; it is one of the command line options. You create your boundary and hatch at the same time instead of having to create an outline then hatch it.

Nancy
