Just for the record... if you draw a line, break it into pieces and then re-join them using JOIN command, you'll get a single line. That's happening in 2020.

Is there a lisp that would recognize a set of aligned connected lines and would change it into a single stright line?

Something like connecting lines into polyline, using PolyLineDiet to get rid of unnecessary nodes and exploding polyline would do.. just I don't need PL so it is work around and I didn't figure how to convert multiple sets of lines into polylines at once.. PE does only one connected set at one run and I have a plenty of those..
Trying to clean up an export of elevation view from sKetchup.. It breaks lines in every intersection even only apparent intersection..

AutoCad Map 3D 2016

The JOIN command will convert many segmented lines to one line.

BeekeeCZ thanks.. Join will help but only the part of converting everything into polylines.. it converts everything into a multiple POLYLINEs at once. but it is still segmented, and still will require PLDiet and explode.. maybe not so many times since JOIN command seems to prefer lesser change in direction when choosing from many lines which to add as a next segment of PolyLine..
So now I can do it all in 3 commands which doesn't take so much time .. I guess I can accept it as a solution ..
