Save the file but when i close it acad ask me if you can save the file.

I save drawing in R2013 if i switch in R2018 solve the problem.

But i must save in R2013.

I try to switch R2013/R2018 and restart acad but not solve

Well, in general saving your working file to an older format is not the recommended workflow.

Save your drawing file in the most current format, for AutoCAD 2021 this is DWG-2018 format ... does this work?

If you need to save something back to an older format, then use command _SAVEAS and create a copy of your working drawing (but do not overwrite your DWG-2018 file) ... does command _SAVEAS with DWG-2013 set as format work well?

If any of the above steps does not work ... what is the message you get?

Do you have the same issue with a new file and just one line in it?

Save as… work fine with R2013 format, but when i try close the drawing acad ask me i want to save it

Step:

1-save as… (ok)

2-close drawing ask me save it.

why? I have already saved the drawing (step1)

No problem with acad2020 only with acad2021

It asks because the drawing was converted to an old format for saving (so it has to downgrade some of the current objects to be compatible with 2013) and to make sure you can continue with 2021 it has to re-updated these objects (which means they are modified and so the drawing in this state is not saved.

Maybe if you have changed the default save format in AutoCAD 2020 (to save to DWG-2013 format by default) ... but this is far away from recommended. I would never work this way.

2021 AutoCAD, not a Toolset?

Start ACAD (Desktoplink)

Then test it with a fresh new file, use the standard 2021 template (or no template),

do not import other stuff, saveas dwg2013, close.....still asking?

With a new file and with my clean AutoCAD files, i can not reproduce this on my side.

My thoughts are the same as Alfreds.

I use my model and work in 2020 but have this problem with 2021

Start Acad2021, Command NEW, right of the [Open] Button is a tiny menu, use Without template - imperial (or metric, does no matter)

Saveas dwg2013.

Still this message with this file?

Really AutoCAD, or a Toolset?

The only for me unusual things a can see

1. DWG

There are Rendersetting informations, that's not the standard ootb for a standalone install of 2021.

2. Screencast (thank you, excellent choice to show what happen)

I see that the Screencast record UPDATETHUMBNAIL and VIEWBACKSTATUS,

in my Test Screencast i can not see that - but perhaps it is a Screencast setting i don't know,

but it looks strange for me!

Try it in Safemode please! Because we can see your profile is not ootb and you play with programming ;D

[Win]+[R]

Open: "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2021\acad.exe" /product ACAD /safemode

I don't know if this is a hint or not.

Please open your Acad in safemode

I had the same problem with AutoCAD 2020 when I first installed it. The problem went away on its own, so I'm not sure what was causing it or how to resolve it, but yours is not an isolated incident.

Hi,

can't reproduce your situation while doing the exact same steps with the same setting for default file format DWG-2013.

Do you have any LISP to apps running on top of AutoCAD?

i solve it!

1) return to default settings

2) NOT import settings from acad2020

3) I redone all the settings one by one manually

A long job but it worked!

AND NEVER MIGRATE settings from older versions!
