File opens to different position than saved

AutoCAD 2024 and 2025, whenever I zoom/extents and then save and close, when I reopen my file the drawing is slightly off. I then do a zoom/extents and the drawing moves back to the original zoom/extents position. I am not accidentally moving the drawing and then saving. I tried saving with 3 different methods AFTER zoom/extents and then closing/reopen file. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and making a circle from the default out of the box settings, zoom/extents/save/close/reopen; same thing. I tried it on my work computer (not educational version) and the same thing happens. Again, it is SLIGHTLY off. My instructor is dinging my grade because of this. I also tried SDI to value 0 (zero). The settings were already zero. My graphics card is AutoCAD certified. Maybe zoom/extents/save/close/reopen file does not position the drawing perfectly where you left off? Please help.

First of all I don't think a good instructor should be dinging your grade for this.

If that's what's happening, it's time to drop the class and learn somewhere else.

I actually can repeat the same as you're experiencing.

I can get it to occur with one of the palettes docked in my case it's the Properties window.

The only time when this doesn't occur with a palette docked is with at least one drawing opened.

Opening on the 2nd drawing will not shift the saved displayed position.

Now with no palettes docked then drawings open and display fine.

Hi,

I am 100% with Paul, nothing wrong on your side (dwg).

Saving is the only thing you can do, nothing else.

There are three things what can force another view by open the file, but both are things what have nothing to do with the drawing!

One is, Paul said it above, if you have docked palettes: Acad open the file and after this step, it docks the palettes - what will shift the drawing window.

2. Or you open Acad with parameter to run a script

3. Or your Acad is setup to open the file in another space.
