Different thickness of the same polyline in different drawings

Hello everyone,

I was looking for the answer to this question on this forum on the Internet, but could not find it, therefore, let's go:

I downloaded the drawing on the Siemens website for insertion into my project.
DXF drawing (link - https://www.automation.siemens.com/bilddb/interfaces/InterfaceImageDB.asmx/GetImageVariant?objectkey=G_KT01_XX_01139&imagevariantid=5&lang=XX&interfaceuserid=MALL)
Further, I saved this drawing in the DWG format and started working with it, however, I noticed strangeness about the line weight.

I set all the parameters to display the line weight in the drawing.
Made so that all lines of the downloaded drawing were on the same layer - "0"
Set the weight and color of the line on the one layer
In the layer set the default line weight
But what I see is the picture below.

The line is all the same thick - that is, 0.2 mm thick
If I set the line weight to 0.0 mm - then it becomes thin, as if I turned off the display of line weights - it sounds very strange, but it is.

What I did was copy all the lines to another drawing of the DWG format - all the lines began to be displayed correctly.
If I copy back (to the drawing in which there are problems with the display), then all the lines become the thickness of which they were, that is, 0.2 mm ...

What could it be?
Maybe there are some hidden settings for DXF drawing ???

@Manualmode hi,

i can not recreate the problem but what i suggest is use setbylayer command to change all lweights to bylayer and check to see if lweight display is responding if you make a change in layer lweight.

I tried to do what you say, but nothing helps.
All settings are made by layer.
All done by layer
Line thickness is indicated in the layer.

The question is in the visual on display - when you set the thickness to 0.0 mm - it is thin, when you set the default thickness (0.2 mm) it becomes thick, although in other drawings, up to 0.3 mm, the lines appear as thin

Maybe there are some hidden settings? for drawing ???

have you tried to audit the file?!

make sure LWDISPLAY is ON

setting lweight to 0.0 interprets by the printer as min lweight it can print

to see the different in lweight sometime you have to zoom in.

That's just the point - that all parameters are activated.
All that is needed (in my opinion and in your opinion activated)))

If you can, download the DXF file from the link, and look - I'm sure you will have the same thing)))

Did you notice that when LWDISPLAY is activated, the lines remain thick? (i.e. not 0.0 mm, but in the default value)

Just to make it clear: the 'default' lweight value is what you set in Lineweight Settings dialog so 'default' may be different in any drawing.

What i did:

move all objects to layer 0 than invoke SETBYLAYER, select all objects. set layer 0 lweight to 2.11mm and AutoCAD react to that instantly (of course the text of ttf are not effected from lweight).

what do i have to do more to see the problem, cause i still do not get the matter with 0.00mm?

OK, see in the pictures below:

I opened the downloaded file from the Siemens website
I drew a circle with a diameter of 2 mm in it on the "0" layer
The default line thickness is 0.2 mm.
Line thickness for layer "0" - default
Line weight display disabled

I do not change anything except:
Line thickness for layer "0" - set equal to 0.0 mm
Line weight display disabled

Here is what I mean - the behavior of displaying a line on a model for drawing in DXF format

To complete the experiment - open a simple drawing in dwg format.
Do the same there ...

And now I’ll make the thickness of the line in the “0” layer - 0.0 mm

And what I want to say is that the display for the file in the dwg format is the same for the default line and for the line with a thickness of 0.0 mm (1 pixel ...) in the mode when the display of line weights is turned off

Maybe there are hidden settings?

lets look on what are you saying:

1. you turn lweight display off

2. you set lweight 0.0mm\0.2mm

0.00/0.2mm in real printing is noting (pixel or less) what are you expecting from AutoCAD to do? to show you the difference between 0.00 and 0.20??? how they could do that when the minimum line weight on screen is 1 pixel. would it be logic that AutoCAD won't show lweight of 0.00 at all???

if you want to test if AutoCAD responding correctly to a change in lweight, raise the weight a little bit.

what's more important is what you will get on paper at print time - did you test that???

and again the printer has also it's own minimum lweight, even if you set 0.00 or 0.03 and the minimum lweight on the printer is 0.06 that's you will get.

I'm talking about why I see a different thickness on the screen in different file formats ???
