Thanks for the reply.

Yes - I'm going to Dimension style, selecting ISO-25 and I can see that the text height here is 10 - see attached screenshot.

Sorry, what does Dim Style QRS and Dim Style EFG mean and where can I check this? The only dim styles I can see are Annotative, ISO-25 and standard.

I've tried selecting one of my dimension lines and clicking properties and it tells me the Dim Style is in fact ISO-25, but the text height is unchanged.

In the attached it tells me the text style is standard, do I need to change something here? Or somewhere else altogether?

Thanks

Hi all,

Newbie to AutoCAD here (using an AutoCAD 2020 trial, on a Mac).

I'm trying to add dimensions to my drawing. When I add a linear dimension, the text height is tiny. I've gone into dimensions > dimension style > ISO-25 (I'm drawing in metric units) and clicked the modify icon. I've changed the text height from the preset 2.5 to 10, so see if it made a noticeable difference. When I added another linear dimension, the text height hadn't changed. I thought I may have had to set this into the template at the beginning, so I closed the drawing, created a new one, changed the dimension text height and tried again, but it hadn't changed.

I've gone to Format > text style > text height and this is set to 0. It says here that if it is set at 0, it will use the previous dimension height settings. I'm not sure if I actually need to change something here?

I haven't currently set up layers in my drawing.

Please help, thank you!

Are you verifying the text height of your dimensions using the settings in the Dimension Style? Enter DIMSTYLE on command line and check the text height there on the TEXT tab.

Also, double check the ‘current dimension style’ when you are creating dimensions. If you are creating dimensions using Dim Style QRS make sure you’re verifying text height of Dim Style QRS and not verifying the text height of Dim Style EFG.

Hi there,

Sure - please see attached. As you can see there is very little in the drawing at the moment as I'm trying to work my way through (the linear dimension in the drawing is also not attributed to the right layer, but I've asked for help on this in a separate thread).

Thank you,

Shanna

Hi,

as expected ... you have a 3000 length for your rectangle , then a text height value = 10 will be small some how . i suggest increase the value ( maybe 50 ) or any other proper value .

You are using a metric template. Your drawing units are millimetres. You may start by doing this:

For Dim Style name ISO-25, Click Modify button (do not click override). On Text Tab, change Text height to 100. (You may also want to change Arrow size to 50 on the Symbols and Arrows tab.) Image-1.

Next, on Fit Tab, check box for Annotative. Image-2.

Make your modelspace Drawing Scale 1:30. Image-3.

On your Layout tab, make the viewport scale 1:30. Image-4.

Image-1Image-2.Image-3.Image-4.

You may return to ISO-25 Dim Style and fine-tune the settings to suit your needs.
