That depends.... An XLINE has a "base point" or "origin" or whatever they call it. If that is contained within a STRETCH crossing-selection window, the XLINE will move with the Stretch displacement.

Hi there

I draw 2d building elevations. I normally draw a window and then use stretch to make it wider, narrower, taller or shorter. It would be great to use some marks to indicate the width I want to window to be and then stretch a window so it meets up with those marks . The problem with doing this is that the marks get to be selected when I select the objects to be stretched, so this messed everything up.

I hope I explained myself?

Is there a way stretch object to a couple of marks indicating the dimensions you want the object to be?

Kind regards, Andrew

You can select the window edge to Stretch and then Shift-pick the marks to deselect them. That needs to be by picking, not by any variety of window.

If they're sometimes inconveniently close to window edge linework for deselecting, I suggest you put the marks on a locked Layer, and they won't get moved by the Stretching.

You don't say what the marks are. It wouldn't matter for the two suggestions above, but there might be other possibilities depending on the type of object -- Points? Short Lines? Rays? Xlines? etc.

If you are interested, this is a great use for dynamic blocks. Sketch up a basic 1x1 version of the window you like and add a few parametrics to keep the shape and you could build a block table of sizes you usually use.

Search dynamic block windows on YouTube to see some examples.

Hi,

I think you need to go for dynamic blocks, where you can set the min and max values for the stretch and you can stretch the window by just dragging the grip. Post the block of the window with the min and max stretch you need and I can help you out.
