Error Quick Access Toolbar - Unable to Remove Control

I get this message from time to time and have to click 10 times on it to dissapear.

Never added or changed this toolbar.

Normal toolbars I changed, but not the QAT.

Any ideas how to fix this? Thx!

I get this error from time to time. Is there a reason why it happens? we don't change anything in the QAT.

@pendean Thank you for the link! Resetting Autocad to defaults fixes for a few days but it happens again. I was wondering if there are any known root causes of this.

I've never seen it in our office ever:
Are you regularly (after a few days) changing AutoCAD Workspaces?
Are you all using an Enterprise CUIx file?
or a locked -from-editing CUIx file from a 3rd party add-on?

ABOUT command says what about your version?
Your OS is? And are you logged in as a local or full Admin, or restricted account?
Is this a sudden new problem? Or something new with your setup about the time it showed up?

- not changing autocad workspaces

- no enterprise cuix files but our main cuix file is saved at a read-only folder with write access to admins only.

- no 3rd party add-ons

- Autocad version is 2020.1.3

- OS is Windows 10

- logged in as restricted account.

- its a sudden problem. close is the only option and doesn't even let you save the file.

Resetting autocad to defaults does fix the problem but the error re appears after a couple days.

How often do your admins edit the locked CUIx file? I wonder if it coincides with your issue cropping up.
Anyone else with your setup having this issue in your office? If no, I would suggest you engage your IT about testing a new login to see if the issue goes away (then using that instead).

CUIx file was last modified in May and the error occurred a couple of times after that. many users with restricted accounts are getting this error.

Could working from home/remotely be a cause for this? since it started after our transition into working remotely.

Yep, you folks have an IT problem, not much else. Curious though that a reset resolves the issue for a while.

Are you all using RDP or VPN live connections to office PCs?
Or are you all on work PCs taken home?

@pendean We use a combination of both VPN and RDP to use our desktops at the office. Users with mobile workstations only use VPN and I think its worth mentioning that they don't seem to have this issue.

Ask your IT to test one of you with the issues to use only VPN to see if that is indeed the solution for everyone.

I get this same error when closing the remote desktop then logging back in.

opening autocad 2020 with a remote desktop user.

closing RDP session

re-open RDP session... CUI error

We are just now setting up VMs and this issue comes up when the VM goes to sleep or lock.

When you unlock it, the QAT buttons disappear and I get the message several times.

I have figured out that if you change workspaces and then change back, the QAT reverts back to normal.

Doesn't happen to local pc's so it must be related to the VM or a RDP session.
