Unable to switch Orbit and Pan on Middle mouse button

I've tried to switch my mouse click settings in CUI, such that when I use MMB(Middle Mouse Button) I orbit, and when I use SHIFT+MMB I Pan. (the reverse of the default)

This is the way I have always navigated in 3D, and I don't plan on changing my habits.

If someone could help me switch the default settings I would be very grateful.

I've even tried to use AutoHotKey to fix my issues, but since AutoCAD also has macro support the programs kinda clash and the outcome is not as expected.

Which mouse and mouse driver are you using in Windows?

Was this loss of functionality due to a reinstallation of the software? Were there other customizations that needed to be reloaded?

Not A loss of functionality, I'm new to AutoCad, but I want it to navigate like my other 3D software.

I'm using a Razer Naga with the default drivers.

This article talks about fixing PAN problems, but the CUI troubleshoot at the bottom might work for reassigning for ORBIT on the middle mouse button.

Did you disable MBUTTONPAN yet? Always required if you want to do any kind of customization in CUI with the middle button.
Note that your mouse driver controls that button too, you might have to explore some additional settings there (which will affect all of your other programs).

Which mouse is it, the one with the many buttons on the side or the radial buttons?

I got this to work by doing this:

1. Type in CUI

2. Scroll down to Mouse Buttons. Open the Click menu.

3. Go to Button 3

4. Left Click - Clear Assignment. Button 3 should say <none> when you clear it.

5. Go to Command List in CUI window.

6. Scroll down to 3D Orbit command

7. Click and drag the 3D Orbit command from the command list over to the Button 3 slot in the Customizations window. A blue triangle should appear next to the slot you want to drop it into.

8. Click Apply

9. Click OK

Clicking once on the middle mouse button should activate the 3d orbit command (you will see a 3d orbit icon) Control by holding down the Right Click.

Holding down the middle mouse button will still pan.

thank you for the input, I've tried this approach and it does not work exactly as intended, as you said, I can't use the MMB for activating and initiating the command to orbit, even if I set MBUTTONPAN to 0.

Yes, I set MBUTTONPAN to 0 in order to use the CUI. However, the pan and orbit now only get initiated,(same as clicking the button on the toolbar) and not activated (actually doing the thing).
This results in needing 2 button presses every time I need to adjust my view, instead of 1. which I do a million times a day. Often switching between pan and orbit multiple times for one view change.

This is not a proper solution as it is has a huge impact on the time needed to adjust views, resulting in slower modeling.

Also bad for RSI reasons.

The buttons on the mouse are interchangeable.

I don't believe this is an issue with my mouse or driver, but rather a limitation in AutoCAD/ not correctly configure CUI.

Would changing the 3d Orbit to 3d Free Orbit in the CUI fix be any better for you?

Just out of curiosity, may I ask why you are modeling in Autocad if the extra button click is such an inconvenience?
