I propose to philosophize a little.

Imagine that you are a shop foreman at a factory.

An ultramodern machine was bought for the workshop and an excellent turner was invited to work.

What else do you need to do to carve a very complex detail from an expensive material?

I think:

You need to teach the turner all the tools of the machine.

The technologist must develop the manufacturing technology of the part (sequence of operations).

What is the difference between the machine and AutoCAD Electrical?

Isn't mandatory training required? How to organize it?

Isn't it necessary to develop standard projects for different areas of design (power engineering, power electric, cabinet design, smart home, etc.) How to organize it?

Are you trying to pull some sort of magic trick?

By distracting your user base with the pretty assistant in the hope of people not noticing

ALL THE BUGS, LACK OF DEVELOPMENT AND GENERAL DISASTER THAT ACADE HAS BECOME AS A ENGINEERING PRODUCT

FYI was at a new prospective client yesterday who was struggling with ACADE

After 15 mins going through this forum the light of how bad the product dawned on the Client

Another hour demonstrating one of your competitors cheaper better software applications convinced them that ACADE is a waste of time, and they are now resolved to get rid of it ASAP

Which means another bottle of bourbon to me for giving that ECAD solutions provider a hot sales lead

Please let your programmers give us a first tip on how to fix the Project Copy command that got screwed up on 2023. It worked okay on 2022. Things are suppose to improve on each version of ACADE. This command took a dive. I don't understand why the programmers needed to alter it.

Very well-crafted reply except

there is bug reports in this forum from back in the day when Autodesk bought WD toolbox

which have not been addressed

the ideas station virtually nothing has been implemented even though multiple people plead with multiple posts begging for functionality to be added

and if you haven’t figured it out Autodesk dealers just refer us back to you

so well done in completely misreading the sentiment regarding your wonderful new idea

if you try fixing the 100+ bugs reported in this forum then people like me constantly snipping at you will disappear

PS had a Team’s meeting with another client Thursday their view of ACADE is even more negative than my view so stop thinking of new ways to annoy your user base and do the right thing

FIX ACADE

Thanks for the info. SEE Electrical looks interesting but after watching video's and with my 30 years of panel design and building as well as PID, One-Line, Interconnect and MCC elevation diagrams I have never had a need to do any of that in 3D. I think I would still recommend ACADE even with it's many issues.

If I were in charge at Autodesk I would make the following changes

1. Clean up the folder structure mess

2. Make Vault Professional available for all the vertical products under subscription.

3. Have Vault deployment contain all the symbol and footprint libraries.

4. Have AutoCAD Electrical use the Vault for all database functions and reports.

5. Add batch plotting from Vault for selected drawings or project.

6. Have Valt Integrate with major ERP systems.

7. Include Vault Document Management for Automated Submittal and Operator Manual generation.

If they could do that there would be no competition.

Best regards,

J.

7.

Ok interesting, I get the “we fear change vibe from you here”

The 30 years’ experience puts you in your 50’s which means you’re moving toward the end of your working life

And it looks like you didn’t even bother to check some of the killer features that destroy

ACADE’s laughingly pathetic functionality

Proper 3D integration into the mechanical / building model is the next big thing in the ECAD world

And everybody except Autodesk is throwing money and resources into it

With Autodesk’s laughingly lack of development and support ACADE is being left in dust by cheaper faster and technically superior ECAD solutions

And now with its rental system it removes a whole sector from sales (SME’s) where renting software now becomes your biggest overhead

And surprise surprise ACADE/vault already integrates with all the ERP Systems but Autodesk’s in its “we don’t play with other companies” has shot itself in the foot and you must pay the ERP software vendor for the integration

(This IMHO has doomed ACADE all the other ECAD vendors are moving ahead with technical alliances with component manufactures/Terminal configuration software/Thermal Software /PLC software /Sistema software /Mechanical CAD systems / ERP systems /ERM systems and it goes on and on which makes ACADE little more than an electronic drawing board )

You have two options for lack of bug fixing and development

ACADE is fundamentally broken and can’t be fixed unless a complete re-write is required

Autodesk Cynically we don’t care what our clients think and can’t be bothered in fixing their product

I leave it to you to choose which option

Perhaps you're right too old to change lol I like change that's why I'm here researching different options once I see an option that exceeds the huge investment put into ACADE (like you said AutoCAD is Expensive), I would welcome the change. Everything in my short review of SEE Electrical could be done using IMO AutoCAD's best feature it's API's. I seriously think that Autodesk should incorporate their Vault product in all the Vertical products which would IMO expand Vaults user base and draw more revenue through non-CAD user licenses.

Best regards,

J.

My 2-cents worth

After seeing this "New Announcement" posted, I knew it was only a matter of time until it started getting slammed.

The programmers at Autodesk have never used AutoCAD Electrical in a production environment, and it shows.

When Nate Holt left so did AutoCAD Electrical.

While my wish list may vary from from yours I think I am on the same general wavelength.

The folder structure is pure spaghetti. Why do we get a new database every time a new version arrives when nothing in the database changed from the prior version? The database should be upgraded separately from each new version of ACADE.... no need to create a new one and force us to import our data if the prior one is still good (and AutoDESK is adding no data to it). I wish more thought had been put into the file naming for symbols, etc. The two letter acronym only covers a small number of components.

I can't say much about Vault since I haven't used it very much.

ACADE was alive during the time of Nate Holt, then it vegetated some time and then I think it was taken over by some Indian company (correct me if it's not true) and it's been dead ever since.

And I think that the concept is wrong оr out of date: separate dwg for each sheet, scratch database, LISP, DCL dialogs....

Regards,

Vladimir

That’s almost the rumour that I have heard

what I heard was it was sent to Autodesk in Singapore and 4 Indian guys are now working on it

now for more rumours I heard that Autodesk tried to do a complete re-write of the electrical software a few years back and abandoned the project

and the best story I have herd rumour or not it makes me laugh

was back in 2005 Autodesk announced an electrical package and went to the owner of Promis E to buy it but they said “no”

which left Autodesk with no electrical product to launch

rumour has it that they desperately needed an ECAD package fast and WD toolbox was the only thing available which makes you think why it was available?

all rumours and half truths

but the funniest one I have experienced was an Autodesk salesman telling me that they could have bought Eplan but didn’t I asked him do you know how big Eplan was

which he replied "its just a software house"

I then pointed out to him how many software houses you know own their own steel processing plant?

And pointed out that the Friedhelm loh group bought Eplan to advance their physical products i.e their metal enclosures and automated CNC/wire cutting Divisions !!!!!!!

So, you believe that AutoCAD Electrical is equal to an "ultramodern machine"?

This is the problem

Other ecad solutions already implement a complex solution that cover the dream your trying to achieve

and this is how they do it

instead of a couple drawing types

they utilise lots of different drawing types to get clearly defined modules of information

use of the IEC standards

document type / document numbering /content /device tags /internal project structure

and guess what ACADE does none of it

solutions already their and being implemented by the compition

ill refer you back to my statement on how Autodesk treats their customers

You have two options for lack of bug fixing and development

ACADE is fundamentally broken and can’t be fixed unless a complete re-write is required

Autodesk Cynically we don’t care what our clients think and can’t be bothered in fixing/improving their product
