Yes, there are some registry settings that are set when a library is installed by AcadE that wouldn't get set when you just copy it in. I am not sure there are any negative side affects to that though. Did you ever notice any? I can try and find out the registry settings if that is the case. I just hate to start messing with the registry personally.

I have installed the AS2 symbol library via 'Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features' but i cannot find the AS2 library folder in the default location - C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Acade 2013\Libs. If I go back to check that I did install the AS2 via control panel it is ticked but greyed out.

Can anyone please tell me how to get it and how do I set it as the default symbol library? i have tried to set the IEEE (as an example) as the default but it does not display in the icon menu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Gemma

This is not my area of expertise so I hesitate to reply but since you haven't had any other responses I will answer to the best of my knowledge.

I went through the process you described and the folder and symbols installed as expected. So I wasn't able to reproduce what you described. I then deleted the folder and tried a Repair to see if it would put the symbols back and it did not. I also tried a Reinstall of AcadE and still the library was not there. But, when I went back in to the Update/Change option the check box was enabled and I as able to install it again that way.

All that said, if you have another computer with it installed you can simply copy the symbols over. There is nothing else the installer is doing for the symbols. Otherwise I think you might need to uninstall and reinstall making sure to select the default standard and all the libraries you want at that time.

Regarding making a library the default - basically you just need to set the project properties library search paths for that folder and you are all set for the library symbols.

The icon menu is also set in the Project Properties. Just make sure to define it for the AS2 icon menu.

Once you have one project set correctly you can base all new projects on those settings.

Hope this helps,

I had a similar problem with installing the IEC-60617 library. It just would not do it. I eventually did as you suggested but by doing it that wa yACE does not record that it was installed when you look in the Uninstall/change menu.

This was with ACE 2013, Windows 7 Pro, (X64)
