I built two symbols: Parent of type General and Child of type General. I inserted all required attributes:
Parent:

Child:

Then I inserted them on the drawing (previously added them to the Icon menu).

The round is parent and the square is child. So as far as their behavior is like of those from the standard library. And when we move child component we see that the cross references update. But if we move parent component cross references do not update and also when we changing parents sequential number no window appears with question “Update to match edited components?” like it happens when we changing sequential number of standard library parent component :

So what should I do to force my components work like those of standard library?

Hi there,

Have you run the update tool on your project? This can happen with cross references and tags if the project data base has not been refreshed/rebuilt after serveral changes to the project.

Please mark if this is a solution for you, kudos are always welcome.

Thank you for trying to help but I have done everything you said long before, but anyway after I move parent symbol nothing is not work. Also as I previously said when I change parents sequential number no window appears with question “Update to match edited components?” which means that something is wrong with the components themselves. Tell me please how to attach the files and I will do this. And thanks for trying to help again!

Something else to consider, you say the 'symbols built by you'. Did you start from cratch? When I need a new symbol I use the standard symbols as a starter. Most but not ALL symbols can be repurposed. Which is to say if I want a different looking PB I select the parent PB from the menu, explode it, change the geometery, run sybol builder on it. Do the same for the child contact. That way ACE sees all of the correct attributes predefined in the standard, out of the box libary(s).

Anyway, just a thought.
