Adding more options to Panel -> Insert -> Icon -> DIN Rail ?

I am wondering if there is a way to add more options to the Din Rail drop down menu that comes up when you are trying to add din rail and panduit to a panel layout?

My Autocad only give me 3 options for Panduit inserts, and all the part numbers are white and I want to use gray. Besides this, I want to add other wire tray size options.

Does anyone know how to add more to this very limited catalog?

I've attached two screenshots to show what I am talking about.

Search your computer for wddinrl.xls

You can mess with this to add more. I don't know how to use it but I'm sure some searching could.

lwinningham is exactly correct, but I would like to add two things:
1. Always back up the original before you change anything.
2. You should not add any new columns to that (or any other) table; I like to copy a row and edit that to suit my needs. This insures that ACADE will be able to find the info it is looking for.

In general, avoid adding columns to any kind of external file ACADE refers to, especially .mdb files. Whenever possible, only edit these via the editing tools included with the software. (PLC Database Editor, Footprint Database Editor). The din rail file is one of the ones that doesn't have its own editor, but it's also relatively simple by comparison. Remember to back up the original and you should be fine.

Hi there,

I was playing with this I while back. I will share if you want to give it a try. Search your drive for wddinrl.xls. Rename the instances you find to something like wddinrl_original.xls and copy the attached file into the same folder(s). Note that you have Tyton and Panduit. The top cover for the wire duct will come in as a solid line and the bottom of the wire duct will come in as a dashed line (if your dashed lines are loaded). This is a work in process, feel free to share.

And use your ACE Help to search for wddinrl and you will find a nice explination of the data fields in the spread sheet.

Thanks everyone! I didn't even know there was such a file. I was able to modify it as recommended just to add the part numbers I wanted, with the correlating dimensions. Worked out great, and showed up on the panel BOM report.

Thanks! That's a ton of wire duct parts you've added. I downloaded it and saved a copy of it. I don't know that I'll ever need such a selection, but if I ever do, I'll go to that copy of the file first. Thank you very much for sharing that.

You can make a backup copy of the WDDINRL.XLS file and add more sizes. Just remember you need to add the catalog entries in WW or DIN tables in the Default_cat.mdb file.
