Hi,

I have recently started using Autodesk Electrical 2015, so apologies if the question seems simple, it is a huge learning curve for me picking up the software.

I've wired up a schematic where I have a Power Supply which I created a symbol (through symbol builder) for. The GND and V+ terminals wires to multiple terminals in the schematic.

I want to create a From/To report with all terminals connected to V+ with the source V+ (and the same with the GND).

i.e. V+ --> PIN1, V+ --> PIN56 etc...

I've found the method of wire sequence but this is not what I want as it will result in V+ --> PIN1, PIN1 --> PIN5 etc...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

For a TO/FROM report you might take a look at this tool. The report can be exported to a spread sheet.

Good luck

Hi,

Sorry I may not have explained my issue in detail enough...

Upon generating the FROM/TO report, I have a schematic which has a PSU unit 24V+, wired into multiple terminals around the schematic.

When I generate the FROM/TO report, it gives me the wiring sequence. i.e. 24V+ --> PIN22, PIN22 --> PIN45, PIN45 --> PIN60 etc.

What I want to achieve is the 24V+ as the source for all pins, i.e. the expected output to be:

24V+ --> PIN22, 24V+ -->PIN45, 24V+ --> PIN60.

Is there any way to do this without having to edit every single line of the report?

Try using the Angled wire Tee's for the wires between the PSU and the Terminals.

Have the angle show going towards the PSU and ACADE will read them as all going to the PSU.

Here's a quick example...

The only changes I made to the table was the text style, alignment and size.

Other than that, it's how the report generated it.

There was nothing special done to the wires or terminals either. I didn't even set the internal/external connections.

All that was done was the dot connectors were changed to the selected angle connection.

Regards Brad

Re: Wire Network from One Source and Multiple Destinations

There are 3 ways to connect wires together in a schematic within ACADE.

Depending on the method used, you get different results in the wire sequence.

As you can see from the above capture, the dot gives a sequence result that at times is less than desirable.

The first Angled connection gives a sequence going back to a common point.

The second Angled connection gives a sequence going into and then out of the branch.

There are only the two basic types of angled connection with any others just being a different orientation.

Once you insert the angled connection but before you escape the insertion tool, you can rotate the angle by right clicking.

You do need to hit ESC to exit this tool.

There is another tool if you need to rotate an already existing angled connection as well.

Make sure that there is no sequencing already set on the components and if there is, remove it.

A set sequence overrules any sequencing done with the wire connections.

I'm also not sure if the sequencing works properly on cables...

Regards Brad

Hi Brad, thanks for your reply, still trying to understand how you were able to generate the report from the wiring diagram sample you posted back on the 10-04-2017, this wire sequencing issue continues to be the main problem to resolve in our use of ACADE, any ideas are most welcome, John

OK Try this...

Type AEEDITWIRESEQUENCE on the command line and hit enter. It's also found somewhere under the Edit Wires/Wire Numbers tab in the ribbon.

Select the wire sequence you are having trouble with.

In the dialog box that comes up, it should show how the wires are running.

You can click on the Remove All button in the bottom left corner to clear any existing set sequence.

If you then redo the command, you should get what ACADE see's the sequence as based on the wire connection, dots and angled T's.

Now run the report and you should get something like what you require.

You may need to do a sort on the report to have the results display in the proper sequence but it should be very close to what you want.

Regards Brad

Hi Brad, thanks again for your reply, I was aware that the SORT command can arrange the source-destination sequence as required.

Unfortunately when the report is updated/rerun this sorting operation would have to be corrected each time to output the required report details.

We are currently using this method (refer snapshot) which provides the report outputs required, but this can look at bit untidy and take up a lot of space on the drawing sheet when there are many of these connection types. I will post a comment in the idea forum to highlight this shortfall in wire sequencing.

Regards, John

Multi Source-Destination option
