I was trying to follow your example in the first post and trying to recreate this by explanation. If I pressed ESC the dialog box would disappear. I didn't have your screen shots, it was just a thought I had from a previous issue someone at my work experienced.

Hi,

I am having problems with most of the menus I am unsure of what they are called, but for instance if I right click on drawing tab and try to select “save” the menu disappears or if I were to try to change the drawing space let say to 3D, the menu disappears. Also, if I type in the command line and try to select the command with my mouse the menu disappears.

I am also completely new to Autocad so even basic knowledge of the program is nil to none.

Using Autocad Electrical 2016

Running Windows 10 Ver: 1709 Fall Creators Update

Acer Aspire Laptop with the Ultra HD 3840 x 2160

I have tried finding a resolution to this problem but to no avail. So, I am hoping some here can help.

Thank you,

Kit

I've had weird things happen with a defective mouse or keyboard. I'm not sure if it's that case here, but maybe you right click the drawing tab, the options come up (if I press esc it still stays up), then the save as dialog box comes up but esc key will cancel out. As mentioned, screen shots or something would help but hopefully something simple like that.

Thank you for your quick reply and I apologize for the placement of my post in the wrong forum.

I have two screen shots.

First Screenshot:

Select help menu

If I move to the menu to make a selection the menu selection disappears and the first item remains and I am able to select the help menu. But unable to make another selection and have it work.

Second Screenshot:

If I move to the side of the menu the items remain and I am able to make a selection of my choosing, but the item selection fails. “Does Nothing”.

Note: This happens with all menus and the only one I am able to make a selection on is the help menu and have work. I am assuming this because there is nothing active within the program from this selection. Again, the others do not work…

Thank You,

Kit

Is this a suggested fix?

If so it’s not my mouse as far as I can see the driver is up to date. For that matter all programs and drivers are up to date, very vigilant when it comes to that.

So, how could you have a defective mouse or keyboard without knowing it. Unless you mean autocad is broke and it not recognizing the mouse or a keyboard.

Oh. Thank you for trying. It seem to me that's it's for sure a problem with autocad. Or it be that my mouse (logitech M510 wireless) may not be compatible. But if that were the case my touch pad doesn't work either.

Hi, I found a solution for my problem and wanted to let you know what I found.

Just not sure if your post is the same problem as mine.

I fixed the problem by setting the DPI scaling to “System” in the compatibility settings. Normally for most programs you would set it to System (Enhanced) which I had Autocad set for and it did fix the scaling issue, but would not allow the menus to remain on screen when pointing to them with my mouse.

Fix:

Right click on Autocad extension/shortcut

Scroll down and click on properties

Click on compatibility

Go down to settings

Check Override high DPI scaling behavior

Click on the dropdown and select “system’

Then click on apply

Unfortunately, in the 3rd screenshot you can’t see my mouse pointer, but you can see that I selected 2D drafting. Trying this before the menu would disappear the second I hit with my mouse.

You really should upgrade AutoCAD Electrical to at least 2017.
2016 does not support high resolution displays and DPI scaling.
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Odd-graphics-display-when-working-with-a-high-resolution-high-dpi-monitor-in-AutoCAD.html
