Drawing1 is created using the QNEW command by ACAD at startup

To set the template dwg for QNEW, press and hold the right mouse button while over a blank section of the dwg.

In the pop up menu that will appear after a few seconds, select Options from down the bottom of the menu.

Go to the Files tab and look for the Template Settings, when you find it, expand the entry.

Expand the 'Dwg Template File Location' and 'Default Template File for QNEW' entries.

Check the values there and make sure that they are pointing to the correct location and file.

If they are NOT correct, select the wrong entry and use the browse button the top right to navigate to the correct location or file.

However, if they are correct, then you need to check the actual template file being used and fix the problem there.

Click OK to save the changes to the settings and exit.

To fix the faulty template file, open the template file and change the settings to what they should be.

once that is done, do a SAVE AS and make sure to have the file type set to template (*.DWT) and overwrite the faulty template file.

When you have done all that, type QNEW at the command line to test the template settings in action.

Changing the Template File used gives you the option to create and use a template file to suit your company with all the settings (including the Electrical settings and layers) set to your company standards and have it be the default template used when starting ACADE.

Greetings,

Didn't find other posts answering my question. Issue is, when I open AutoCAD Electrical 2015 on a new drawing, the new drawing is automatically set to 3D HIDDEN, instead of the preferred setting of 2D WIREFRAME. If an already existing drawing is opened, it is correctly set to 2D WIREFRAME.

Is there a way to open new drawings automatically on 2D WIREFRAME?

This setting is normally saved in the template used to create the new drawing. What template are you using?

Greetings,

We could not find the template file you are talking about. Although we did try to replace the template at

C:\Users\dufour.stephane\AppData\Local\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 2015\R20.0\fra\Template

from a computer that did not have the issue.

We also tried to set to blank the path.

Both of these attempts did not work.

Could you please tell us how we could find the default template used for new files?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

In the start menu, when you start AutoCAD Electrical, do you just press the "start new drawing"-button? Just below it, is a drop-down menu where you can select what template to use.

Do you have some customizations loaded that might do this? acaddoc.lsp etc.?

Greetings,

The issue occurs at the very moment we open AutoCAD Electrical. On two identically setup AutoCAD installations on two identically setup computers, one of them retains our default configuration of 2D Wireframe when opening on the default file Drawing1.dwg, while the other user must manually open one of our working templates after Drawing1.dwg and changing his config to actually change from 3D HIDDEN to 2D Wireframe.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Greetings,

We are sorry about the confusion, we actually do not select a template when opening AutoCAD since we run it in Single Document Interface (SDI = 1).

A "Drawing1.dwg" is automatically loaded when we open the software.

We apologize for this, we should have specified it at first.

Is it possible that it could be the file used to generate that "Drawing1" that could create the issue?

If yes, where would be the file on the computer please?

Thank you again.
