Thanks for that, the blocks are cool and I will see if I can implement this where I am.

Doesn't look like ACADe will import the "POS" attributes from parent to child though.

But thanks for the help.

I have a selector switch with 2 contact positions

"CLOSE" & "TRIP"

I want to use a Selector Switch Icon to represent this switch in the schematic and assign

POS1 = CLOSE

POS2 = TRIP

My parent component would have POS1 and POS2 in the INSERT/EDIT parent component pop-up window

I'd enter the switch position names in POS1 and POS2 for the parent

I want the POS1 to show up on the parent component and POS2 to show up on the child component.

You know, in smart block fashion.

Can this be done?

Below is an example of what I'd like. The trip attribute below is the Desc1 attribute.

Re: Selector Switch Child Component Question

I find that style of contact for the Selector Switches to be very poorly designed. There is no easy way to say if they are closed in more than one position without using the description text or a large key located elsewhere.

In effect, what you have is a 3 position switch with one contact closing in position 1 and the other contact closing in position 3. Position2 has both contacts open and I am assuming a spring return to position 2 from both other positions.

I came across some symbols ages ago when I was doing my apprenticeship in the electrical trade (back in the 80's) which are fairly widespread in use here in Australia. These blocks show the number of positions and what contact closes in what position. It can even show if a contact closes in multiple positions.

See the attached Zip file for the blocks.

For what you want, it would be HSS1_KN3PR for the parent and HSS2_KN3PL for the child.

That corresponds to the 3 Pole Right Contact Closed parent and the 3 Pole Left Contact Closed Child.

Then all you do is add the appropriate spring return symbol from the Qualifying Symbols -> Mechanical Controls folder of the Icon Menu.

Regards Brad
