So a multi pin device has the pin list going vertically and you want it to go horizontally.

The way the pins numbers are sequenced depends on how the block was created.

As a time/labour saving option, ACADE give the block creator the ability to insert MULTIPLE connections of the same type. For example, you can insert 5 left hand connection point in one semi-autonomous operation rather than 5 separate complete operations. ACADE will number these inserted connection points sequentially. Any other connection points after that will just continue that sequence.

The pin list in the Edit Component dialog just follows those connection numbers.

To change this requires editing the block in question.

Make a copy of the block as a backup just in case of problems.

Open the block as a dwg.

PRINT the block so you can refer to the original connection number layouts while modifying them.

Using the printout, work out which connections need to be changed to suit your desired sequence.

Make the changes to the connection points by double clicking on the attribute name & change the LAST TWO digits only. These two digits are the connection number. Don't forget to change all the connection attributes as there are two or three for each point. There is the X#TERM$$ for the actual connection point, TERM$$ which is the visible Terminal number and possibly X#TERMDESC$$ for a optional short single line terminal description.

http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACAD_E/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-315C837D-98F7-405B-92B4-3EC2981DA69E

The # denotes the wire direction while the $$ are the connection numbers.

Once finished, save the block and then swap to a NEW dwg and try inserting it to see if the sequence is correct.

If you need to make minor changes, swap back to the block dwg, make the changes, save and the swap back to the test dwg. Use the Swap/Update tool to refresh the inserted block to the new version and test again. Repeat until it's correct.

Once it's all correct, close the block dwg and the dwg you were using for testing.

Finally, use the Swap/Update tool to update any existing blocks in your project/s as required.

NOTE - The pinlist data in the catalogue is also inserted using this sequence. Any records that are set up to use the original sequence will need to be edited to match any changes.

Regards Brad
