Thanks,

I especially appreciate you noting the .dat file location in the command line as it turns out I was editing Ace_pneu_Menu.dat on our server location but the button under insert components is still tied to my local copy on my C:\ drive. If you have a chance and know off hand where that link is stored I'd appreciate you letting me know, otherwise I'm sure I can eventually figure it out.

I'm trying to add to the menu to insert P&ID objects in AutoCAD 2019 under the schematic ribbon>Insert Components>Insert P&ID Components but can't seem to find the correct .dat symbol.

What I've tried is opening Icon Menu Wizard and browsed to Library\Support and edited ACE_PID_MENU.dat but when I use the Insert P&ID Components those changes aren't reflected which leads me to believe that AEPID uses some other menu.dat file - but I'm not sure which.

Anyone know where that location is?

Thanks,

I've gone through the process of editing the P&ID menu, and there are a couple of tricky moments along the way. To confirm, the ACE_PID_MENU.dat is the correct file.

I recorded a short, narrated video for demonstration purposes. Click here to view it, and have speakers or headphones available, if at all possible.

The P&ID command under the Insert Components pull-down on the ribbon executes the command AEPID. That command is hard-coded to specifically look for a menu (.DAT) file called "ACE_PID_MENU.DAT". If you wish to use a shared P&ID icon menu, place it somewhere in a shared network folder and be sure that everyone's OPTIONS > Support File Search Paths includes that location. Also, you must ensure that there are no local versions of the ACE_PID_MENU.DAT file, or it will be found and used first.

If you wish to have a P&ID menu (.DAT) file called something other than ACE_PID_MENU.DAT, you can, but you'll need to set it as the Schematic Icon Menu File within your project's properties. At that point, you'd just use the normal Icon Menu button to access it, since the AEPID command will not find it, due to the name difference.

Fantastic, I removed the local copy and added our shared folder to options and using the PID button redirected to the ACE_PID_MENU.dat file I had edited.

Thank you so much for the support and have a great year.
