Automatic Relay Wire reporting

Hi everyone!

At my company, we have been generating many drawings manually and one of the more important pages for our manufacturing team members is a relay page which shows each relay component as well as the wires on each pin and the jumpers. An example (with wire numbers and tags changed for confidentiality purposes) is shown below.

My desire is to know if there is a way to do automatically generate something similar to this, even if it is in tabular format.

Hi Niklas,

Have you tested out the Wire Annotation Tool Yet? This will add the wire numbers to the any footprints.

If you don't have wire number attributes, For example WIRENO01, TERM001, WIRENO02, TERM02 etc in the block, It will simply add the Wire Numbers as text.
But if you want to manually position the wire numbers, Use the Wire Number Attributes.

These wire numbers were populated using wire annotation command. Checkout the attached footprint dwg.

Thank you! This is perfect. I am curious about one more bit of functionality and if this is possible: In the original screenshot, you can see the (SS) or (MECH) by the relay number, indicating if it is solid state or mechanical. My idea is to use one of the "USER#" columns for the catalog entry, as shown in the screenshot below, and I am wondering if these user columns can be represented on the footprint as an attribute. I know I can probably use DESC2 attribute or something for that but I would rather it be catalog-specific than component-specific so that I don't have to manually enter that for each component on my drawings.

Glad to hear that worked for you.

I am not sure if we can pull USER# data from catalog browser to attributes. But what you can try is to use RATING# attributes.

In the Catalog Browser under the TEXTVALUE field, You can populate the values for RATING# attributes.

For Example: In the screenshot below I assigned RATING1 value to be MECH

When you assign this catalog to an symbol, It will pull the rating values from catalog browser and populate the rating attributes.

For this to work, The schematic symbol and footprint both must have the RATING# attributes.

The RATING attributes are automatically pulled from schematic symbols to footprints, just like the DESC# attributes.

You can have more than one RATING attribute, Just keep incrementing the number at the end like RATING1, RATING2, and so on.
