Issues with Source/Destination Xref in ACADE 2024

Hope someone can help me solve my issue.

I just updated my AutoCad Electrical from 2022 to 2024 and I'm having issues with my Hexagon Source and Destination Cross-Ref. Originally when setting up my cross-reference in 2022 it was using set-up as %S%N for both and the x-ref for the hexagon would still only put the sheet number on top and the rung number under, as shown in image below. Now that I started using 2024 all my source and destinations when updated from the previous version now includes the sheet and rung for the x-ref, as shown below. So, I was trying to get it to go back to how I wanted it to be sheet on top and rung on bottom. So I went back to my properties and changed the cross-reference to %N for both and it worked, but it interfered with my component cross-reference settings and now it only shows the rung number and doesn't include the sheet. I have shown images below as well. Is there anyway to fix this on my end so the x-ref only shows the rung number for my source/destination hexagon without affecting my component x-refs? My reference properties are set-up for sheet and numbers. I would like to keep my number base set for 00 thru 99 only and use my sheet as the first position when creating my ladders. example 100, where 1 represents the sheet and 00 represents the x-ref (line number).

How do I get my reference to look like the top view as it was in 2022 verses now in 2024 shown on bottom.example parentexample childmy settings that would work with 2024 but interferes with my component cross reference. as shown in images.

Hi @jaya_priya_ramasamy

I had the same issue as the OP while running 2024. I have since upgraded to 2025.0.3 based on this thread to resolve the issue and it partially resolved the issue. The between sheet arrows now behave as this did in 2023, but the same sheet arrows still exhibit the behavior that was seen in 2024. Below are identical circuits to demonstrate the behavior of the Source/Destination arrows in both 2023 and 2025. Cross-Reference Format did not change between the two versions.

It appears that the code in 2025 was updated for the between sheet arrows so that the XREF attribute in the symbol ignores the Cross-Reference Format in the Drawing Properties and just uses %N. However, the code in 2025 was not updated for the same sheet arrows to do the same for the XREF attribute in the symbol and it still follows the Cross-Reference Format in the Drawing Properties.

I attached the project I created for CaseNo:25423578 that you can use for testing to observe the behaviors shown in the image above. If you Retag/Update the Source/Destination arrows in the ACADE 2025 field using ACADE 2023, then you should get the same result that is shown in the ACADE 2023 field. If you Retag/Update the Source/Destination arrows in the ACADE 2023 field using ACADE 2025.0.3, then you should get the same result that is shown in the ACADE 2025 field.

I could change the Cross-Reference Format to be the defaults, but that would impact the formatting for parent/child symbols just like the OP saw when they changed the formatting to %N.

Product information:

Thanks,

Luke

The SHEET number in source/destination arrows no longer repeats if %S is configured in the cross-reference settings as %N overrides the settings.

That means if %S is configured in same/between drawings cross-references setting, and if the ref arrow already contains the SHEET attribute e.g. HEX arrows, then %N overrides the settings. Since there is SHEET attribute already present in hex arrow, the setting for between drawings SH %S, ZN %N also contains %S, it is overridden with %N. But the setting for same drawing ZN %N does not contain %S, it is not overridden with %N but follows the setting.

Hi @jaya_priya_ramasamy,

Thank you for the explanation on the behavior of the source/destination arrows. I just updated the Cross-Reference for Same sheet to be %S, ZN %N as a test. When I retagged the same sheet arrow, it now ignores the Cross-Reference formatting and populates the XREF attribute with %N. Looks like I will need to make some adjustments to how we format our Cross References going forward to align with the new "rules" in ACADE 2025.0.1 and above. As we touch older projects created in ACADE 2023 and prior we will have to update the drawing properties to ensure formatting continuity.

Thank you!
