Transfer project folder from one computer to another - ACADE 2019

I had transferred the project folder from one computer to another computer. After transferred, in the project settings I had change all the file path for Schematic, icon and panel which located default ACADE 2019 in the new computer.

Now I am trying to reuse the drawings, the drawings all have catalog information in the schematics, but I looked in to the Catalog database, most of the components are missing in the database. While I am trying to generate reports, the catalog informations are missing.

Could you please guide me, whether I need to again create catalog from the schematics or anything I missed out. kindly please advise.

Ciao

I guess you are not using the catalog on a network managed by a SQL server.

If the above is correct, the catalog data is saved in an .MDB file

You could copy the catalog from the pc where you created the project to the second pc.

To see the location of the catalog file, run the command: AECATALOGCONFIG

The catalog used before is from the server, i forgot to copy the mdb file from the server.

Currently i am having default catalog which comes along with ACADE 2019 in new PC. So i need to create component from the existing schematics ? Or any other ways to reutilize the existing scheme with the existing catalog information from the schematics.

Kindly please advise, what should i do to reutilize the existing project...

To my knowledge, if you use the default catalog, you lose all the data you entered in the catalog used in the other PC.

If you have to move a project from one PC to another not connected to the network, if the management was done with MDB files, you will have to copy it to the new PC.

If the information was managed in SQL Server, a synchronization job is needed between SQL Server and an external DB that can then be copied to the "island" PC

If you have no way to have the original catalog file, you will have to recreate all the articles of the project, thus updating the default catalog

Another possibility, when porting a project to another PC, is to create a Project Catalog from the "original" PC with the following command:

Click Project tab> Other Tools panel> Create Project-specific Catalog Database.

On the PC where the project is copied, this new catalog can then be used to retrieve the information of the articles

Luckily i could found a catalog mdb file which copied from other computer. So now i can able to see all the catalog information.

Yes this too worked out well, but now i should use the complete catalog MDB file which copy from other computer or i should use the project specific database. Both the catalogs are same ? I suspect the project specific database has only the components which used for this project. If i am wrong, please correct me..

One main thing is not clear here. Is that old pc was standalone or was it connected to the network drive where your drawings, catalog and custom symbols are saved?

If the old pc was connected to server and new pc also connected to same server, the easies and fasted way to do is to redefine the lactation of the wd.env file in the new pc. This will fix not only the catalog but also symbol library, icon menu, etc.

The existing computer connected to server, but the new one is standalone...

If the project file is moved to the standalone pc, I would copy old catalog, company specific custom symbols and customised reporting files to the standalone pc. When you open that project in the new pc, that project still expects to find custom symbols in the server unless you redefine the paths and it may also flag up saying "XXX symbol" is not found.

Yes now i copied the old catalog and redirect the path in the project settings. Now seems to be fine.

Now i am facing issues with Table style. I created new table in the "Table Style.dwg" but still i could not get the bill of material report in new format.

Could you please guide me, how could i reuse the existing table style in my projects ?

In the "Table Generation Setup" you should be able to select Table Style. If it is not there, click Browse and select the Table Style.dwg file. This should add to the Table Style selection dropdown. You should be able to select it from there. This is just table style but not bom reporting file.

Yes i browse and select the Table style.dwg file, but its not appear in table style selection drop down box.

Also i would like to generate BOM for the components with parent and child. But while generate reports, it shows only reference of the parent component. But i remember, i seen parent and child ref appeared in table format while generate reports.

Now i have two issues....could you please provide your expertise...

Yes i selected "REF" in the reports, but it shows only Parent Component Ref. Not shown child ref, even though i selected "Child for above"

Are the children appearing in the BOM but xref missing or both not appearing in the bom?
Are the children linked to the parent?
If children and parents are on different sheets, you need to select all sheets to process ie select Project not Active drawing.
You also need to add SH (sheet) to Fields to report windows (same way as you added REF), otherwise you wont know on which sheet the child/parents are located.
