Table of Contents using fields or attributes?

Not sure if this is a function, block, or attribute, I looked it up as best as I could. I wasn't able to find anything, but when there's doubt, there's the amazing forums here. So here goes nothing:

I've been making a lot of blueprints lately, and part of that whole spiel is making a Table of Contents.

Is there a way to make it to where my table of contents is filled in automatically by the files located in my project?

Sounds like you are talking about a drawing list report. Drawing list report will pull data from all the drawings in your project folder that are in your project. Each drawing in your project would have a title block that AutoCAD Electrical would pull information from to put in a table on a drawing. There is no automatic TOC link to any external file.

Best regards,

Jeff

I knew about that function, and unfortunately, I don't think it will work the way I was hoping for. Thank you anyway.

Don't give up! Even though many have wondered why AutoCAD Electrical doesn't have that feature built in you can still use AutoCAD Data link feature to update a TOC from an external Excel file.

Create a TOC.xlsx file an put it in your projects folder

Create the link using the manager.

Use relative path that will work best IMO.

Pick the file you just created and this will establish the link. You will have to select OK a couple of times.

You then just need to add the table to the drawing.

Select you data link and put it in your drawing.

That's it easy peasy.

Best regards,

Jeff
