lag when copying dynamic block

I am trying to troubleshoot a lag problem while copying a dynamic block within a dwg. The attached dwg has had everything erased and purged except for the block I've been having issues copying at least as far as I can tell. See (here) for screencast of reduced dwg. The original dwg has a more "noticeable" lag. See (here) for a screencast of the original dwg. There seems to be something in the background affecting this dwg that I can't find. I had a qsave issue that had *Warning* Multiply owned object, handle "D23B" see knowledge base article . I applied the article to remove the errors.. I made a new file which is still slow after a writeblock select.

Before this post gets too long... If you copy clip the block from the bad file to a new clean dwg the slow copy appears in the new file. If I insert the same block from my library into a clean dwg it works fine until I copyclip the bad symbol into the clean file. Then the new file becomes slow. I would like to fix the bad-corrupt file if possible. In our office it is common to use previous similar jobs as a starting point which would spread this issue like a disease. I have made notes in the job folder not to use the file and I suppose I could zip the file but would like to understand the problem and fix it if I can.

Any interest or comment would be appreciated.

If I copy the block within the file you show, the lag happens. If I copy the block from the file you posted into a new file and then make copies there is zero lag. None.

click on below image and see how it's work fine !!! the only thing that i found is there a lot of weird grips that may cause your issue .

Thank you for your reply. The grips are from hidden objects in other visibility states. They will appear if you have "show grips within blocks" checked in your options or gripblock set to 1.

I managed to fix the file by exporting to a lower year 2013 format as far as I can tell. It would be nice to know what caused the problem just so I could avoid it in the future. I am using 2020 arch. What versions are you and @Libbya using?

Thank you both for the input. I will close out this thread.

Fix: export the drawing out to a lower version. this seems to clean up drawings.
