What video? Mine was doing what you wanted and the only way I got it to not to that was to pick polar snap instead rectangular grid snap as shown in picture. Your welcome though.

When working in ACAD Architecture, and I have the "Show snapping reference" on, after hovering a grip and extending out on axis, the reference guideline works perfectly. When I tough another entity anywhere, I loose the reference. Saw I want to snap to that location the guideline touches I loose the guideline when I go to click.

Is there any way to retain this line to allow the ability to snap on the reference line?

Thank you for any help.

I tried messing with some settings and I can't really get it to do what you are saying. Maybe I'm unclear on what you are asking. If I lose the reference line I can move the mouse slightly and it comes back.

Are you saying like when in line command you snap to a say an intersection then pull the mouse to the right with a guide line. When the cursor hits any object you lose the guide line? Or are you saying you lose it when you hit another snap point near your guide line as you pull it right? I'm just using right as an arbitrary direction.

Where the tangent intersect the circle, if I grab the grip and pull the line over, or if I am drawing a new line, and I am set on ORTHO SNAP, I can never get the line to snap "on target" with circle. What I normally do is use the EXTEND command to get the line over to the circle "on target". If I touch the circle while in ORTHO, I loose ORTHO and it snaps anywhere along the circle. Hopefully this helps explain it better. I circled in red the areas where I want the snap to occur to give you an idea. Thanks, Brian

Right click on the object snaps button on the bottom tool bar to get into the snap settings. That will bring up the above menu. Is your snap type on polar? Change it to grid snap > rectangle snap as above. I believe that will make it act like you want.

I will have to look into this further, as you can see by the video the snap settings are checked. If I remember it is a combination of snap settings. Thank you for the help though.
