Hi All,

I can't get to work my Logitech mouse keystroke assignment (f8 for ortho). I have the following:

1. Logitech marathon mouse m705 connected thru a "unify" usb

2. Autocad architecture 2016

3. Windows 10

I have tried "tempoverides" and it still does not work. Please help....Thank you.

Are you trying to assign F8 to a mouse button? If yes, does your mouse software let you do that? That's normally how it is done, not in AutoCAD.

Logitech has the software called Setpoint. This software allows keystroke assignments to the mouse buttons.

I called Logitech and they said that its an AutoCAD issue because the keystrokes work on other apps.

A quick search around these forums would indicate you have to install this and not setpoint if you want it to work with AutoCAD http://support.logitech.com/en_us/software/options

Try it and find out.

Hi VStudley,

No. Pendean's suggestion did not help. I spoke to Logitech and it seems that this is a AutoCAD issue.

When I use the assigned mouse buttons on the other programs, they seem to work.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm sorry to hear you're still having trouble with this. I found another suggestion over in the Civil 3D forum, which seems to have helped a lot of users get their M705's custom buttons working.

Could you review this and try it out?

If it's still not working after this, you may want to test another mouse to rule out an issue with your mouse itself.

Can you get any other F keys to work as mouse buttons on that mouse? If not then maybe something in that mouse driver that won't allow F keys. Try making a different short cut for ortho and putting that on the mouse button as a work around.

I meant make ortho have a different short cut in autocad CUI (like "y" or some other key that isn't used as a shortcut) and then put that short cut on the mouse since you can't seem to get f8 to work.

As far as it not seeing the device: I had a logitech set of headphones once that wouldn't get detected until I plugged them in and then restarted the computer with them plugged in. If they got plugged in after the computer was on they would work as headphones but it wouldn't let me change any of the options in logitech's software as it wouldn't see them. That was years ago so it might have been a bug that was fixed but it's a simple thing to try.

I have mostly gotten away from logitech devices. They are nice and have lots of options with lots of software but I seemed to run into issues like you are having. The software says I can do something, you change the option right here in this box, and then it doesn't actually do what you changed. Like I said logitech makes nice stuff but after a couple of issue like yours, I thought I'd try some other manufacturers out.

Hi OMJDEWSIGN

I have the same problem with the same mouse! I found that all I have to do is just open the Setpoint program and my mouse then works with Autocad. Weird I know but, it works for me!

Logitech's SetPoint Settings worked for me with my Logitech M705 mouse for AutoCAD 2014 in Windows 7 and AutoCAD 2020 in Windows 10.

In SetPoint:

Button Settings - make button 3 to be Middle Button rather than zoom

Advanced Settings - Enable application-specific button settings - Configure

Add AutoCAD Application, if you haven't already, then select it

Buttons

1: Left Click - can't be changed

2: Right Click - set through AutoCAD's OPTIONS dialog, not SetPoint.

3: Middle button can't be changed in SetPoint's application-specific settings. To use it for panning, AutoCAD's MBUTTONPAN system variable should be set to 1.

4 through 8: Use keystroke assignment to assign as you wish. Make use if AutoCAD's CUI dialog to use or create shortcut keys that you can use with SetPoint. I have mine set as follows:

4 CTRL+M (MOVE command)

5 CTRL+B (COPY command)

6 CTRL+T (TRIM command)

7 CTRL+E (EXTEND command)

8 F8 (toggle ortho mode)

Its 2022 and I'm still having this problem. My keyboard assignments on my mouse work for other programs, but not AutoCAD. Tried everything. Does anyone have a fix for this yet? I'm running a M705 mouse.

I've tried the following:

Resetting the mouse setting in setpoint (didn't work)

downloading Logitechs latest "options" and setting up keystroke assignments in there (didn't work)

tried adding AutoCAD as a program to "advanced settings" within setpoint (didn't work).

Christ this is annoying.
