Hey all! I've got what's probably a newbie issue here, but I've been going through the forum and I couldn't find exactly the same problem nor the solution for it. I've been using AutoCAD 2018 (Student version 1.1) to draft the plan and section views of my project.

Modeling at 1:1 and setting up the plot to 1:50, adjusting the viewport scale a little on every layout tab, just to see it fit properly in the paper setting I've got (which is basically, a really long A3 in landscape mode).

My units are centimeters, but I think there's something wrong with the Page Setup and scale. The only way I could temporarily fix that, was with an override when exporting to PDF, and changing the scale from the original 1:50 to 1:825. This was a temporary fix, as I soon realized of course, the line-weights would not scale right, and every line would look as thick as the other.

I had NO idea why I had to scale it that hard, I mean it doesn't make any sense to me. Then I noticed the vector and raster quality had also changed, from 300 to 2400. I'm thinking that may have something to do with it, but so far, I couldn't fix my document on my own. Aside from needing it to look perfect, I'd very much appreciate it if someone could break it down for me so I can better understand where I screwed up. I can't make any sense of this so far.

I'm uploading my .dwg file, so far its got 4 plan views and 1 elevation. They're organized into 5 different layouts, I've kept the 1:50 setting untouched in the first layout (ground floor) and the temporary fix on the rest so that whoever braves this can see what I tried to explain. All designations on the drawing itself are in Spanish, but I don't think you'll need to read those haha.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

Yes, I read what Brian said, but because I don't have Adobe Acrobat installed, the AutoCAD PDF option is the best I got. I set it up a little while after creating the document, as I usually do when exporting to PDF. I can install Acrobat if necessary, but as I understood it, this serves a similar purpose, right?

A: I'm trying to get a 1:50 scale on a sheet of paper that's a bit larger than the usual A3 in length. The viewport set to 10:1 is just me fitting the model into it, because after I set the Page scale and paper, it wouldn't fit into the layout's viewport. When I scale, I do it from the Page Set up pop up, and if for some reason it doesn't fit into the viewport, I manually adjust it - it doesn't matter to me as long as it fits and it doesn't break the scale ratio. I'm probably not doing it the best possible way, but I've only started with it a few weeks ago - and I'd be happy to learn the best way to scale my drawing. So far this is what I got after a few tutorials and videos.
Simply put: what I need it to do, is have the lot's 8.66m*25m area fit into a 17.32cm*50cm slot in that sheet of paper after exporting, which would be 8.66*25 in a 1:50 scale.

Also: Even when leaving the viewport's scale untouched, it doesn't look like my drawing has been scaled to 1:50, and I can't really see why, I think that's the root problem. I'm pretty sure my model is OK when it comes to units, but I'm honestly about to panic and start all over again. I was trying to get help because I thought it could be salvaged without having to trash it.

Well I found the problem, and it was inside the Autocad PDF Options. It looks like at some point the raster quality went from 300 to 4000 - I don't remember ever changing this but who knows. Which ended up breaking everything - that's why I had to switch it to 1:825 and noticed the line weights breaking.

Thanks for the moral support, everyone 😃
