Layout is not at 0,0

I was wondering if anyone has any idea's why my layout is not at 0,0? I
drew a line from 0,0 and it starts way over to the left of my printable
area? I have written a post before about xrefing my titleblock and it
doesn't insert at 0,0. Any idea's would be great!

I too have encountered this, my conjecture is that it happens when you have
switched from one sheet size and then to another....it seems to get out of
whack under those circumstances. I try to keep different sheet setups to
individual tabs for that reason. But my assertions are not very scientific
because after making this adjustment in my habits I've not encountered it
again.....yet.

It seems to go back if, in page setup you define a window starting at 0,0,
then set it back to layout. wierd.

I don't know what causes the error, but if you turn off the paper edge and
shadow in OPTIONS; move the sheet, notes, viewports, back to 0,0; reset the
PS limits of the drawing (LIMITS command); then reinstate the paper edge and
shadow in OPTIONS; it should correct the paper/origin location. This has
worked for me in the past, I hope that it works for you

Thank you for the answer John! I've been teaching AutoCAD for 15 years. This is the first year I've seen a student with a 0,0 that is off on the layout tab. And Jay, thanks for asking the question!

Hi - I know this is an old thread but I am having the same issue and haven't been able to correct it. I've also heard that temporarily switching plot area to "Window" and zooming way out and then switching back to "Layout" in the What to Plot option can reset the 0,0 to the bottom left corner. This is what I typically do. Are there any other tricks to try? This is really frustrating.

Every time I reinstate the paper edge and shadow the LIMIT changes back to the arbitrary values and 0,0 moved to a location near the center of my sheet. Have you ever experienced this before? Thanks

Actually - I think I found the solution which I've seen before but had forgotten, in case anyone else has this issue in the future:

I've had the same problem. Here is how i fix it,

First you could check the plot offset origin

>Right click on affected layout

>Select Page Setup Manager

>Modify the layout

>See if x and y are at 0.00

If that don't help i just create a new layout

>Type layout in command and select New

>Right click on new layout

>Select Page Setup Manager

>Modify the new layout - Set plotter and paper size needed of new layout. hit OK and exit out of Page Setup Manager.

>Right click on affected layout

>Highlight New Layout Created and Select "Set Current"

After reading all the sorta unclear comments I figured it out and I hope my method helps.

steps 1 > 2> 3 etc.

First: set your printer name and paper size to the desired setup.

then:

right click layout > page setup manager > modify > under plot area select "window" from the drop-down > before clicking, enter in the command bar "0,0" > select a large area > when page setup dialog box re-appears, set "plot offset (origin set to printable area)" X: and Y: to 0,0 > okay the dialog box > close.

to test it worked type "line" and enter 0,0 to make sure it starts at the bottom left corner of the viewport.

if for some reason it doesn't work, do it again.

I discovered this easy fix:

Go to Page Setup Manager -> Modify. Under what to plot choose window, and click the button to define the window. Pick 0,0 as the lower left corner and choose the upper right corner of the layout. After change "What to plot" back to layout.

This works for me.

That works for me too. I was able to modify a 24 X 36 sheet layout to a 20 X 42 sheet layout. Title block snapped in real nice too.

It could be that the INSBASE variable in your titleblock xref is set to something other than 0,0. Open the xref, enter INSBASE, and enter 0,0,0 at the prompt.

My TB settings were good. My problem was in page setup manager in paperspace. When I modified it from Arch D to Arch E1, the new sheet size did not have its lower left corner at 0,0. Your solution straightened that out. Why can't this stuff just figure itself out automatically? Like I say, "Let the robots do the work!" (With all apologies to Futurama's Bender).

Problem: In paper space, the 0,0 point is not at the lower left hand corner of the white paper area. This is proven by starting a line at 0,0 only to have it start many inches away from the lower left hand corner.

Research: I have tried the many suggestions in many threads and nothing works.

Conclusion: The page is corrupted.

Solution: Replaced corrupted page using a known good template.

This is most likely due to the paper size selection. I find that when I use the "full bleed" version of the paper size, it looks to be in the proper position. For each of the ARCH paper sizes, you'll see the defaults and then the same for "full bleed".

I had a similar problem, try double checking that you selected the correct paper size. For example an Arch D (24x36) page will load in a different spot than an Arch D Full Bleed (24x36) page.
