Creating a solid .iges or .step model from an Alias Model

Hey,

I'm currently trying to export an Alias model as either a solid .iges or .step file for milling.

The Alias model is currently hollow with just surfaces - however I need a solid finished model - does anyone know how to achieve this? I've tried exporting as .iges or .step but the model stays hollow.

I've used 'Meshmixer' to create a solid model but this programme can only export in .stl or .obj (Not what i want)

Hi,

You have to stitch the model. Just like in any other software. If you work with surfaces - you need to knit/join/stitch them.

So:

1. Stitch

2. Pick Shell

3. Export active as... > stp

Regardless of that - some software (e.g. Solidworks) does that automatically.

You should also take into consideration - .iges is just surfaces. The translation into solid is done by the software youre importing into.

Concentrate on .stp.
