topic How to reset camera? in Alias Forum

My camera has permanently locked itself into a 77 degree twist. The view cube is semi-hidden regardless if I restart the app or not. If I click where the rotation arrows should appear, the view only pans in a circular motion. If I open the camera editor and manually enter a twist number, it flicks back instantly. If I use the look at button, it also flicks back instantly. Using the 3D mouse, all axises move the view in the wrong direction.

The near clipping plane is also way too close now, if that is a hint to what may have happened.

Oh, and this is also limited to, and annoyingly saved with, one file (how on earth that is even possible, I don't know).

What did I mess up and how do I get it back to normal?

Ugh. Forgot that there was additional camera preferences in the palette... grr... so much for UI consistency and keeping things in one place. 😞

Reseting the "tumble" panel seemed to bring the camera move behavior back, including the disappearing view cube (surely a bug, though).

Then I could adjust the clipping planes back to normal...

Still, if someone can give me a good explanation as to why this happened in the first place, I'll accept that as the solution.

Palatte->View->Reset View

should reset the camera view.

I suspect that you might have some construction plane setup ( one of which is twisted by 77 degree) and hence the camera setting for that view got saved with the file or it could some new bug?

Would you be able to share the file?

Stupidly I overwrote the file the moment I managed to solve the problem.

Perhaps I have some old default hotkey configured that I manage to press and I need to watch out for...
